Svetlopolyansk Shilokhvostova Lyutsia Komilevna Nowadays, residents of many countries use the services of a bicycle, giving it preference over a car. A cyclist must know and comply with the requirements of the rules that apply to him, so I recommend that all cycling enthusiasts study this material on this topic. In addition, even if you do not have a bicycle, you also need to study the rules of a cyclist on the road, so that in the event of an accident involving a bicycle driver, you can immediately identify a violation of the rules and clearly indicate this to the traffic police officer. What is a bicycle? A bicycle is a vehicle, other than wheelchairs, that has at least two wheels and is usually driven by the muscular energy of the persons on the vehicle. Rules for cyclists For cyclists, the same rules apply as for other vehicles, because if you get behind the wheel of a bicycle, you are no longer a pedestrian, but a driver. In addition, there are some additional rules for cyclists. One of the most important! - the traffic rules stipulate that the minimum age for driving a bicycle on public roads should be 14 full years. Bicycling is permitted... On a bike path or on a combined path. Combined paths are intended for pedestrians, cyclists and, sometimes, mopeds. If there is no bicycle path or combined path, the cyclist must move on the right side of the road along the shoulder or along the right edge of the road. Children under 12 years of age can also ride a bicycle on the sidewalk. Combined paths Cycle path and pedestrian path are separated Cycle path and pedestrian path are combined It is prohibited to: Ride if the brake system or steering is faulty. Carry a load that protrudes beyond the dimensions of the bicycle, interfering with control, by more than 0.5 m. Ride without holding the handlebars even though with one hand. Forbidden!!! The following road signs prohibit cycling: Riding a bicycle on the highway Pedestrians, bicycles and mopeds are prohibited Bicycles and mopeds are prohibited All vehicles are prohibited Passing is prohibited Passing through intersections: When driving through intersections, you need to be especially careful. The same rules for driving through intersections apply to cyclists as to motorists. Remember to point in the direction of the turn with your hand before turning. Basic rules for driving through intersections: When a cyclist moves along the roadway with other vehicles, he must give way to vehicles approaching the intersection from the right. A turning vehicle, including a cyclist, must give way to cyclists and pedestrians moving along the intersecting road. The road being crossed is the road on which the vehicle is turning. A cyclist leaving the bike path onto the roadway must give way to all vehicles. Vehicles will only allow a cyclist to pass if they are instructed to do so by a “give way” or “STOP” sign or if they are turning onto the road that the cyclist is crossing. Yield and STOP signs instruct all vehicles, including cyclists, to yield to all moving vehicles on both the right and left. Here are the most common cases on the road: A turning vehicle (in this case a car) must allow a cyclist traveling along the road to pass. At an equivalent intersection, a cyclist must yield to vehicles approaching the intersection from the right. A cyclist moving in the direction of the sign must give way to vehicles on both the left and right. The STOP sign also requires a mandatory stop. A cyclist leaving the bike path onto the roadway must let others pass. Passing and crossing a pedestrian crossing If there is a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of a bicycle path or a combined path with a regular road, then the cyclist must cross the road at the pedestrian crossing, driving the bicycle next to him. The bike lane does not give the cyclist priority - he must obey the rules for passing through intersections. The cyclist is also affected by road signs installed at the intersection, such as “give way” and “STOP”. Bus stops When approaching a bus stop, slow down. The cyclist must give way to passengers getting off and on board the bus. Railway crossing The effect of traffic lights and barriers at railway crossings also applies to cyclists. You cannot drive through a railway crossing if the light is red and the barrier is closed. It is not recommended to cross railway tracks outside of crossings. Traffic lights for cyclists A cyclist must obey traffic lights. When turning, a cyclist must yield to pedestrians at a crosswalk. Some intersections have separate traffic lights for cyclists. In this case, the cyclist must obey the traffic lights for cyclists. Let's talk about safety: before going on a bike ride, you need to wear and check: Transporting people and cargo on a bicycle The bicycle is designed to transport one person. To transport a child, you need to have a suitable seat with reliable leg protection. To transport infants, you must have a special safe seat. Bags and loads should be placed on the bike so that it is easy to maintain balance. Movement is a joint activity! Drive at a speed that allows you to control it in all situations. Slow down at intersections. Sudden maneuvers are dangerous. Do not suddenly drive onto the road or around the corner of a building or perform other unexpected actions. Use your hands to show turn signals when you are about to turn. If necessary, warn other cyclists or pedestrians by calling. Riding in groups The regulation regarding cycling groups states that columns of cyclists when moving on the roadway must be divided into groups of 10 cyclists. The distance between groups should be 80-100 meters. Reflectors (flickers) for cyclists Make sure that you are visible on the road to motorists and other road users. A headlight and reflectors on all sides are necessary when driving at night. Be careful! Follow the traffic rules when riding a bicycle!

Slide 2

Let's not forget that a bicycle is also a vehicle.

This means that the traffic rules stipulate that the minimum age for driving a bicycle on public roads should be 14 full years.

Slide 3

Therefore, the person operating the bicycle must:

  • check the technical condition of the vehicle, especially the steering and braking systems.
  • Slide 4

    Bicycles must be driven only in the far right lane (no further than 1 meter from the curb).

    It is allowed to drive onto sidewalks and pedestrian paths if this does not interfere with pedestrians.

    Slide 5

    The rules also note that it is allowed to transport children by bicycle:

    • if the child is under 7 years old;
    • if there is an additional special seat equipped with reliable footrests.
  • Slide 6

    Prohibited:

    • Drive if the brake system or steering is faulty.
    • Carry cargo that protrudes beyond the dimensions of the bicycle and interferes with control by more than 0.5 m.
    • Drive without holding the steering wheel with at least one hand.
  • Slide 7

    • It is prohibited to tow a bicycle, except with a trailer.
    • It is prohibited to turn left or turn around on roads with tram traffic and on roads that have more than one lane for traffic in a given direction.
    • It is prohibited to ride on the main road if there is a bicycle path nearby.
  • Slide 8

    • If your bicycle breaks down, you need to drive it along the road, going in the same direction as traffic.
    • At an unregulated intersection of a bicycle path with a road (if this intersection is not at an intersection), cyclists must give way to vehicles moving on this road.
  • Slide 9

    • The regulation regarding cycling groups states that columns of cyclists when moving on the roadway must be divided into groups of 10 cyclists. The distance between groups should be 80-100 meters.

    Road signs

    All warning signs are more or less important for cyclists, so you need to know them. Most warning signs are in the shape of an equilateral triangle with a red border and a white or yellow background.

    Slide 11

    Of the prohibition signs (most of them are a circle with a red border and a white or yellow background), one is specifically addressed to cyclists:

    • sign 3.9 “No cycling”

    In addition to this sign, you should also pay attention to:

    • sign 3.1 “Entry prohibited”
  • Slide 12

    • Sign 3.17.2 “Danger”
    • Sign 3.18.1 “Right turn prohibited”
    • Sign 3.18.2 “Left turn prohibited”
  • Slide 13

    • Sign 3.31 “End of all restrictions zone”
    • Sign 3.2 “No movement”
  • Slide 14

    Mandatory signs are all important for a cyclist, but especially sign 4.5 “Cycle path”. This is the second sign addressed specifically to cyclists. Only bicycles and mopeds are allowed on the bike path, and if there is no sidewalk or pedestrian path, then pedestrians.

    Slide 15

    • Almost all information and directional signs are relevant to cyclists.
    • Some service marks relate to motor vehicles. The rest are also relevant for cyclists.
  • Slide 16

    Cyclist signals

    A cyclist intending to turn or stop must give certain signals:

    • the left turn signal corresponds to the left arm extended to the side,
    • The right turn signal corresponds to the right arm extended to the side (or the left arm bent upward at the elbow).
  • Slide 17

    The rules allow when turning to raise the arm opposite to the direction of the turn, bent at the elbow at a right angle upward, but in order for your gestures to be clearly understood, it is recommended to extend your arm in the direction of the turn, since the cyclist, in general, does not care which hand is taken off the handlebars .

    The topic of an extracurricular lesson on traffic rules: “Additional requirements for cyclists, driving in groups.” 6-7 grade.

    Target: deepen students' knowledge of the rules of driving bicycles.

    Tasks:

    Expand knowledge about the requirements for the technical condition of a bicycle, the meaning of road signs for cyclists, and signals for cyclists;

    Develop safe behavior skills when driving bicycles;

    Instill responsibility for riding a bicycle independently.

    Equipment: training video, presentation on the topic, test cards for each student.

    Progress of the lesson:

    1.Introductory remarks.

    With the onset of warmer weather, more and more two-wheeled vehicles are appearing on the roads of the capital. Be it a bicycle, moped or scooter. Their drivers are mostly minor teenagers, who are in the greatest danger, since two-wheeled vehicles, unlike automobiles, are not protected by the body. Evidence of this is the statistics of the traffic police in Moscow, which daily reports on cases of traffic accidents involving drivers of bicycles, mopeds and scooters on the roads.

    Unfortunately, there has been a sharp increase in the number of accidents involving drivers of bicycles, mopeds and scooters. In most cases, they are driven by young people who have very poor driving skills, do not know the rules of the road, and often grossly disregard these rules and become participants in road accidents. And car drivers, for their part, also to some extent forgot about cyclists, who may unexpectedly appear when changing lanes or performing another maneuver. As a result of accidents, those who belong to the most active, able-bodied part of the population die, lose their health and are maimed. Minors, the future of our country, are often injured.

    According to statistics, three quarters of the total number of accidents involving motor vehicles are collisions with cars.

    Therefore, drivers of bicycles, mopeds and scooters need to know the Rules of the Road and control the situation on the road. Knowledge of traffic rules is the surest guarantee of safety.

    2. Presentation “Cyclist – driver of a vehicle.” SLIDE No. 1.

    SLIDE No. 2. A bicycle is a vehicle that has two or more wheels and is driven by human muscle power. The cyclist is the main figure in ensuring road traffic. Persons at least 14 years of age are allowed to drive a bicycle while driving on the road, and persons at least 16 years of age are allowed to drive a moped. A cyclist is the driver of a vehicle, so he is subject to the same requirements as any driver.

    Movement on a bicycle (FEATURES).SLIDE No. 3.

    Bicycling is not permitted on most city streets, populated areas and highways. A bicycle as a vehicle has its own characteristics. Firstly, it is driven not by the engine, but by the muscular efforts of the cyclist. Consequently, its speed depends on the physical training of the driver. Secondly, the bike is highly maneuverable. Thirdly, it is characterized by insufficient stability. Therefore, it is necessary to seriously learn to ride a bicycle and be prepared for various situations that may arise on the road.

    SLIDE No. 4-6. Basic requirements for the condition of the bicycle:

    The cyclist must be properly dressed (helmet, gloves, knee pads, armrests). A bicycle must always have working brakes and a horn.

    When driving on the roads at night, a bicycle must be equipped with a white flashlight (headlight) in front and a red flashlight or reflector at the rear.

    SLIDE #7: Persons over 14 years of age are allowed to ride bicycles on the road closer to the right edge of the roadway.

    SLIDE No. 8. Movement in groups:

    Cyclists traveling in groups must ride one after another so as not to interfere with other road users.A column of cyclists moving along the roadway must be divided into groups (up to 10 cyclists in a group) with a movement distance between groups of 80-100 m.

    SLIDE No. 9. Cargo transportation:

    A cyclist may only carry such loads that do not interfere with the operation of the bicycle and do not create obstacles for other road users.

    SLIDE No. 10-11. Driving through intersections and pedestrian crossings:

    If a bicycle lane crosses a road outside an intersection, cyclists must give way to other vehicles traveling on the road.

    SLIDE No. 12. Cyclist signals.

    SLIDE No. 13. What should a car driver do? (skip).

    SLIDE No. 14. Is it allowed to carry passengers on a bicycle? (students’ answers).

    SLIDE No. 15-18. A cyclist is prohibited from:

    a) drive a bicycle with a faulty brake, a sound signal, and in the dark and in conditions of poor visibility - with the lantern (headlight) turned off or without reflectors;
    b) move on highways and roads for cars, as well as on the roadway if there is a bicycle path nearby;

    c) move on sidewalks and pedestrian paths (except for children under 7 years old on children's bicycles under the supervision of adults). If there is a bike path, move only on it!

    d) while driving, hold on to another vehicle;

    e) ride without holding the steering wheel and take your feet off the pedals (pegs);

    f) tow bicycles;

    g) tow a trailer that is not designed for use with a bicycle.

    3.Check.

    Remember: bicycles, mopeds and scooters are high-risk vehicles, and drivers of these vehicles risk 8 times more than drivers and passengers of cars.

    SLIDE No. 19-20. Signs for cyclists.

    SLIDE No. 21. Peer cyclist on the road.

    SLIDE No. 22-26. Explain the rules for driving through the intersection (answers and analysis of the student’s answer).

    3. Test yourself. SLIDE No. 27-28(1).

    Students are given test cards with tasks that must be completed independently. Then a joint check.SLIDE No. 28(2).

    Cyclists, be careful on the road!SLIDE No. 29.
