The British brand MG presented the E-Motion concept coupe. History of the company MG Cars Mg what brand of car

MG (Morris Garages) was previously a British company that mass-produced passenger cars and sports cars. MG became best known for producing one of the first two-seater open sports cars. The main factory was located in Abingdon. However, in the fall of 1980, the plant was closed and car production was stopped for two years. From 1990 to 2000, MG belonged to the BMW concern. In 2005, the MG Rover group came under the control of the company that bought it, Nanjing Automobile Group. Nanjing resumed production of MG sports cars in 2007.

Company history

By 1910, William Morris owned the largest car dealership in Oxford, called Morris Garage. In 1923, Cecil Kimber, manager of the Morris company, organized the production of sports cars under the MG brand. Based on the Morris Minor chassis, which featured a single camshaft in the cylinder head, the MGs earned a reputation as discreet, agile sports cars. The company's serial models allowed it to take a leading position in the international sports arena.
On May 1, 1924, the MG trademark was registered in the Octagon. In 1927, the most famous car of this brand was born - the MG Midget, a passenger 2-seater roadster, which would later become a source of inspiration for designers for the modern TF Roadster.
In the 50s of the last century, MG became part of the British Motor Corporation. The heyday of the company began in the late 50s with the arrival of engineer Alec Issigonis, who created the front suspension for the new model that literally saved the company, MG Y-type. Successful roadsters began to appear, such as the MGA, MGB, MGC, MGB GT and, of course, the new generation Midget.
In 1968, the British Motor Corporation included such brands as Rover, Jaguar, Triumph, forming the British Leyland Corporation. Soon after this event, MG stopped funding, then after the company was nationalized, the plant was dissolved.
However, in 1982, British Leyland management decided to start producing small cars under the MG brand. This is how the logo appears on small cars Metro, Maestro, Montego, and a prototype of the Impact compact electric car is presented.
In 2000, BMW merged its British assets - MG and Rover - into a single group, MG Rover.
In 2005, MG was acquired by the Chinese company Nanjing Automobile, which began producing previous MG models, slightly modernizing them. Car production was moved to the company's plant in Nanjing.
A new impetus for development for MG was the entry into SAIC Motor Corporation in 2007, in which the brand received a new breath. A lot of capital has been invested in the development of the cars produced, high-tech equipment is used and development engineers from the English company MG Rover are involved. The engineering office in Leamington, UK, was completely purchased from Ricardo and renamed SAIC Motor UK Technical Center.

MG - history of the brand:

No, MG is not a misprint of the famous American car manufacturer GM, it is in fact a British sports car brand that was first launched in 1924. MG actually stands for Morris Garages, a subsidiary of Morris Motors, the old British automaker. Morris Garages was initially a dealer of Morris cars in Oxford, but very soon they began selling their own modified versions.

At first, the cars produced at MG were Morris chassis with bodywork made by Carbodies of Coventry. These models sold quite well, prompting the company to move to a larger plant to keep up with demand. In 1928 the company became large enough to split from its parent company and MG became the MG Car Company Limited. The same year saw the appearance of the first original MG car, the 18/80, which was no longer based on a Morris chassis.

In 1935 William Morris sold the company to Morris Motors, which was later taken over by the Nuffield Organisation. This was the company's start in racing. A further change in management occurred in 1952 when the British Motor Company (BMC) merged with MG. At this point, the company's history became "foggy." In an attempt to cut costs, the MG plant was closed, causing unexpected unrest among workers and customers.

The MGB model was released in 1962. Modern and more convenient than its predecessor, it was produced with some improvements until 1980. The GMC was produced between 1967 and 1969, but its large size and poor handling prevented it from becoming a customer favorite.

When BMC was transferred to the Rover group in 1986, MG became the property of British Aerospace in 1988 and later, in 1994, the property of BMW. This continued until 2000, when the Germans sold it back to the British along with Rover, which was a contender. The company became the MG Rover Group and based its operations in Longbridge, Birmingham.

While MG was owned by the Rover Group, they sold rebadged Austin sedans such as the Metro, Maestro and Montego. Additionally, the two-seater MG RV8 was launched in 1992, as well as a range of new MGF models in 1995. It was the first production car since the 1980s, when production soon ceased.

After BMW sold MG, new models came out like MG ZR, Rover 25 and MG ZS. By 2005, production of the Rover and the rebadged MG models had ceased, and there were rumors that the Chinese, Nanjing Automobile Group to be specific, were interested in buying the British marque. In July of the same year, Nanjing had already bought the rights to the MG name.

The Longbridge plant continued to produce TF models, while a new plant in China took care of the MG 7. Additionally, a new facility in Ardmore (Oklahoma) took over global production of the TF. The new generation of the sports car, which was supposed to appear in 2008, was announced in 2006. The MG3, MG 5 and MG 7 models also received some updates.

MG company advantages.

MG is one of the few companies in the world that is engaged not only in the production, but also in the development of rolling equipment, constantly improving and introducing the latest technological solutions into its products, which provides them with a leading role in the global market of roll bending machines.

Today, MG is able to provide a solution for all rolling requirements and offer a wide range of standard models with useful working lengths from 500 mm to 8000 mm and the ability to bend material up to 260 mm thick. Roll bending machines of the MG and MH series are the result of continuous research and product modernization, the use of high-tech solutions and components; They are designed and manufactured in such a way that they allow achieving a minimum bending diameter of 1.1 times the diameter of the top roll when bending sheet metal with a yield strength of 260 N/mm2, which is the best indicator on the market. Another design achievement of MG machines is the benchmark for minimizing the straightened section of a sheet metal.

MG experience

MG has extensive experience in the development and production of special machines for non-standard customer requirements. One of the most striking examples and the pride of the company is the production and commissioning of the world's largest 4-roll sheet bending machine with a bending force of 5000 tons, capable of processing steel with a thickness of 260 mm and a width of 3500 mm in a cold state. In addition, one of the company's strengths is its extensive experience in designing turnkey automated production lines.

Breakthrough of the Year

In 2012, MG became the leader in the number of rolling mills sold in the Russian Federation.

In 2010, MG made another breakthrough in improving its equipment and acquired a CNC system developer, as a result of which the TOUCH COMMAND EVO CNC system was developed exclusively for MG bending machines. Today, the TOUCH COMMAND EVO CNC system is the most advanced and contains the maximum number of options, including:

  1. ASM – automatic synchronization of distribution devices for all hydraulically activated movements, with a CNC interface for controlling and monitoring the speed of the rolls.
  2. ITD – display of the interpolation trajectory, with constant diagnostics of the trajectory accuracy displayed in the program interface.
  3. PBS – proportional bending system. Constant speed control on all axes, in manual and automatic modes, possible thanks to the pre-calibrated MG proportional system.
  4. OAR – online technical support in real time. A service software engineer, using remote access tools, can directly connect to the CNC and deal with the problem immediately.
  5. AOI – automatic oil condition indication system. Allows you to use CNC to monitor in real time the condition of the oil in the machine: its level, temperature and condition of the filters.
  6. VDS is special software for visual diagnostics. Displays a diagnostic page that displays all system inputs and outputs; their operation can be checked in real time for troubleshooting purposes.
  7. CAN – CAN bus driver control and driver diagnostics for all MG valves (this system is similar to that used in the automotive industry to connect and connect all sensors).
  8. EPG – software for creating production programs for CNC on a regular personal computer; makes it possible to do work while in the office.
  9. TTL – the ability to quickly create libraries through just “Three Tests” of material.
  10. ACF – automatic calibration function. The ability to create self-learning calibration programs, which allows you to achieve perfectly round shells and eliminate any inaccuracy that occurs.
  11. EVL – electronic adjustable power limiter. Possibility to control and adjust pressure directly from the control panel. In addition, with a replaceable top roll, EVL will automatically adjust all power and pressure settings to match.
  12. GLM – laser geometric measurement system.
  13. BPC – bending location camera. Allows you to obtain an image of the bend location displayed on the CNC interface screen.
  14. PMA – software maintenance alert. Allows you to display automatic messages about the need for standard machine maintenance; the operator does not need to perform manual checks.

    First owner 90 thousand km 8.5 l / 100 km Family

This is not the first car, I was meticulous in my choice. The interior is incredibly spacious (height 190). The leather interior is pleasing, the gearbox is from TOYOTA Aisin, you just can’t hear how it works, it switches without kicking and quickly. The spaciousness of the trunk (458 liters) is enough to fit everything you want and there will still be room left. The pit suspension swallows. Only in the 5th year were the silent blocks and steering tip changed. Everything else is original from the factory. Engine. As with all cars, change the oil and there will be no complaints. The engine is chain driven, which protects you from bending the valves. The engine is torquey and nimble, the car accelerates actively, on the highway (when fully loaded) at 3000 rpm you can calmly go 140 km/h. According to music. You have as many as 8 speakers at your disposal, the sound is clear and high-quality + they also left you with a bunch of settings for this sound. This configuration includes a 7" touchscreen, which is perfect for watching TV shows while waiting. Safety. The driver and passengers are surrounded by 6 airbags, including curtain airbags. The metal of the car itself is durable (see crash tests). So many I haven't seen any "bells and whistles" in a car yet, like Bluetooth+HandsFree and USB+AUX-IN, a bunch of assistance systems when driving a car, a camera, parking sensors and a bunch of pockets for small change. In general, the car is decent, but there is always one "BUT" "And this is the noise of the suspension, after all, the factory found where to save money. Add a slotted spoon and enjoy the ride. And don’t forget to change the oil.

First owner 60 thousand km 10 l / 100 km Trips in the city

I bought the car in the “Comfort” configuration - leather interior, climate control. In possession since March 2013. The city is almost constantly in traffic jams, except in the early morning and late evening/night, so the average consumption is 10.5. On the highway at 90 km/h you can achieve 6.3-6.5 liters; if you keep it at 110 km/h, it will be up to 7 liters. The car is comfortable, there is a lot of space in the cabin, and the trunk is large. The engine warms up quickly and the transmission shifts smoothly. I accelerated to 200 km/h - it holds the road well, but is noisy after 130 km/h. The body is completely galvanized, the saffron milk caps do not fall on chips.

    modesty and good control.

HBO is already 4 generations, as in the late 90s (I asked for 6 generations but they said it’s not allowed, have you seen AIS entered into an agreement with the Italians for antediluvian unnecessary rubbish in the form of 4 generations of HBO, which have not been installed in Europe for a long time and are forced to pay for “kickbacks” help out the Italians and sell this scrap metal to the patient Ukrainians. There are no mudguards in the base, resulting in rapid contamination in wet weather. After 130 km/h, air begins to be sucked into the cabin, a characteristic whistle appears, the navigation system does not work, some video formats are not supported. Small side mirrors ( poor visibility in them).

I spent a long time choosing a car, and finally settled on the MG 6. While driving home from the car dealership, I came to an intersection with tram tracks, slowly rolling over the rails, I immediately felt the clanging of the wheels, the struts, and the shaking of all the windows, all this is a drawback of low-profile tires 215/50. I immediately turned around and replaced the 215/55 winter tires at the tire shop. After that, the car “floated” as if they had changed the chassis from a Mercedes, in a word, all possible shock loads from our fun roads stopped hitting the suspension. After that, I also did a complete noise reduction for 8000 UAH, installed metal engine protection, mud flaps, xenon, tinting, LPG 4 generations, as in the late 90s, having received the finished car, I began to enjoy driving. By the way, on ice and snow the car behaves more than perfectly, and when cornering, the suspension handles movements like on a sports car, in general I’m pleased with the driving characteristics. Several times I contacted the car dealership about fuel consumption, namely, it consumes 14-16 liters of gasoline and 18-20 liters/100 km of gas. In the cabin, of course, they tuned the engine. They turned the spits, computer stands, everything was useless, only the power was dulled. I was already thinking that maybe my driving style was aggressive and I checked the fuel consumption on an empty highway at night, set the cruise control to 105 km/h, drove 300 km, topped up the gasoline and got a fuel consumption of 11.8 l/100 km without acceleration or overtaking with the climate control turned off. At the car dealership they said that everything would be fine, they say, after running in 10-15 thousand/km, that the engine would be faster and gasoline consumption would decrease to 9-12 liters. In general, all that remains is to wait about four months and after passing the 15 thousand maintenance. draw conclusions. Wait until the first models have driven at least 100,000 km and consult with their owners. Wait until the AIS company eliminates the inconsistencies in computer and navigation systems (they promise to eliminate them from the beginning of 2012) Wait until the AIS company sells out all 4th generation HBO installations. Namely, you will get the 6th generation HBO, albeit a little more expensive, but it’s worth it. And when all this happens, run to the car dealership, you won’t regret it.

A neat little car, good equipment, comfortable steering, galvanized body made of high-quality iron, excellent price-quality ratio.

The suspension shock absorbers are not the best, the engine growls from 3000 rpm. Thick A-pillars may obstruct visibility - be careful in front of pedestrian crossings!

The choice was spontaneous. They wanted to buy the car before the introduction of the environmental tax and for some reason they wanted a sunroof to be on the roof. Passing by the salon, we had a chance to stop by - the car had just been delivered - we sat, looked, read, touched, and, in general, decided to buy it. For 130 thousand hryvnia, you didn’t have much to choose from: either something bare, but known, or stuffed, but incomprehensible. Traveled 11,500 km. Of these, 5000 km are in Europe. The impressions are positive. No hidden deficiencies were identified. Today is the first ride at -17 degrees. Pah-pah, it started right up after spending the night on the street: Honda engine, Bosch battery. The only complaints, perhaps, are about the original suspension shock absorbers. It can be seen that they were not specially developed for this model. At first it seemed quite tough. But it was the tires. Initially there were Chinese Giti. Once I installed the winter Fulda, it immediately felt much better. It took me a long time to get used to the robotic machine. Shifts slower than a manual transmission. In standard mode, the transmission turns on early, in my opinion. For overtaking on the highway, it is better to use the manual transmission mode. I didn’t accelerate more than 175 km/h. At this speed the car throws (shock absorbers!), but is quite stable due to the “ears” above the rear wheels: they work like a wing. The beveled top of the car gives better stability in corners. Of course, the dynamics are worse in comparison with the Audi 2.0 FSI, but the highway consumption, if the gasoline is good, is as advertised. I filled up the tank at VOG in Yagodina and got to Kyiv in 5 hours (106 km/h average, 5.9 liters consumption), with another 100 km left to drive around Kyiv. In traffic jams the consumption is high - 10 liters. At 175 km/h consumption is 15 liters per hundred. The trunk is small, but where to put it with a length of 4 m? But there are originally roof rails on the roof. I haven’t done any tuning yet, I just hung up the crankcase protection. Yes, who found a rear view camera there? The MG-3 Xross does not have it (for some reason the AIS calls the car “Cross”, but according to the technical passport and in life it is called Xross).

One of the most beautiful cars in its class. Which is what buyers fall for in the first place. And of course the price on the secondary market is very low. The car is not the most reliable, there were minor breakdowns, sometimes expensive, but I have never towed it. The inside is beautiful, it goes fast and is maneuverable, my average consumption is 11-12, less is unrealistic, because the power rushes out and asks to be turned on the lawn.

An excellent body for a Chinese, not a single saffron milk cap in 7 years of operation (compared to the Emgrand). Dynamic engine. The trunk is slightly smaller than in the Skoda Octavia, but if you fold down the rear seats it expands to a huge size. Spare parts are not cheap, but high quality.

Reliability, comfort, good handling, excellent “stuffing”, hard galvanized metal body, excellent audio system. 16" alloy wheels. It is comfortable for passengers to sit in the back seat, the ceiling does not press. Exotic car.

The suspension is on shock absorbers that were not specifically designed for the MG3 Xross. A large slope of the side windows means dirt and rain settle more heavily. Subjectively, the triangular design of the rear is confusing; the creators overdid it. Small trunk. Rear drum, not disc brakes. The side mirrors are slightly spherical, the distance is distorted (this is now a fashionable disease among many automakers, like swine flu). The visor does not sufficiently protect the mirrors from raindrops. The interior rear view mirror is a bit narrow. The rear pillars block the view when reversing out of a herringbone parking lot. The air conditioning is cheap, which is why when it is turned on, the gasoline consumption is +1.2 l/100 km. Ukrainian operating manual: translated by illiterate people.

An excellent machine for the money. I took it at the beginning of August for 130 kilohryvnia before the introduction of the recycling fee. They didn't really choose. We passed by the salon near Baykovovo in Kyiv, looked at it, read the characteristics, and sat inside. We squeezed the metal on the nearby Gili, Citroen, Kia cars - the MG has better metal. They left a deposit. The purchase criterion is a new car for reasonable money in good configuration. For some reason I really wanted to have a sunroof. He is! The robot box was very confusing. Although I’m already used to it, I switch it to manual mode for overtaking and sudden lane changes. For 780 hryvnia I hung a piece of iron from below - the crankcase protection - the sight of the asphalt with the hood open was frightening.

I go every day. The car is parked on the street. There were no hidden shortcomings (pah-pah). While there were no big frosts, I can’t say anything about “it starts or doesn’t start in cold weather.” The battery is originally Bosch. The steering is good and precise. The brakes are front disc, rear - drum, so braking efficiency is worse than with all-disc brakes. Suspension. Since I changed the tires to Fulda winter tires, it has become much more comfortable to drive through our pits. In the original configuration, the tires are Chinese Giti - they become glassy at temperatures below +5 degrees. But in any case, I would replace the shock absorbers with Kayaba, Monroe or Zet-F, but such have not yet been developed for the MG3.

Gasoline consumption on the highway at 90 km/h: 5.2 - 5.4 l/100 km. At 160 km/h - approximately 14 l/100 km. If you drive fast, you need to fill up more often. As a result, you spend the same time on the road. I didn’t reach the speed limit of 185 km/h. In the city in traffic jams: 10-11 liters per hundred at an average speed of 17 km/h. What can you do: the kiyan has arrived. Houses, business and shopping centers are being built, parks and squares are being destroyed, but the roads remain the same as they were 20 years ago. Soon a car in Kyiv will become a meaningless object.

The engine is a 10-year-old Honda. Not bad. The five-speed automatic transmission is a separate story. Much more reliable than a classic automatic transmission. But it’s also much more incomprehensible than a manual transmission. In the MG3, the robot is programmed in normal mode A (automatic) to change gears too early, the dynamics suffer. In S mode (automatic - sport) it shifts closer to my ideas about driving, but in the city it is necessary to force 5th. In manual mode M you can accelerate briskly. However, when braking, the robot shifts gears down in accordance with the logic that the programmers put into its iron brains, regardless of mode A, S or M. But it never stalls due to an incorrectly engaged gear.

Yes, the engine is quite noisy and starts to growl at 3000 rpm. The trunk is modest, after the Octavia and Seat Toledo it’s just a parody of the trunk. But the base has roof rails and you can attach an aerodynamic luggage rack. The car is rare, so there are problems with spare parts: the driver's windshield wiper arm accidentally broke off - I couldn't buy a new one, I found a craftsman who welded it and restored it. The interior is leather (sort of, but the leather is not natural, but pressed). Easy to clean and cold in winter. I had to buy electric warmers. Almost immediately I replaced the standard wipers with frameless ones. The best price-quality ratio in the area of 120 - 140 thousand hryvnia.

Powerful motor. Equipment. Spacious interior and trunk. Ergonomic button layout, everything is intuitive and simple. Consumption for a 1500 kg car is 10 liters in the city. Noise insulation. Brakes. Despite the tire size 215/50 R17, the ride is smooth and soft, there is a multi-link in the rear, and a BMW 46 in front. Galvanization of the body, checked, driven into the pit, completely inspected, welding seams are even, everything is coated with sealant, the tubes and hoses are all fixed, it is clear that they worked with their heads on its creation.

Biting of the steering wheel after one full turn, depending on the road surface. The gearbox is noisy up to 2000 rpm, in 1st and 2nd gears, maybe a new one will be developed, not critical. maybe an imprint of a music school for 5 years. The moment of starting off on turbocharged versions with manual transmission takes a long time to get used to, I’m waiting for the normal firmware for 190-200 horsepower. Visibility is limited due to the large pillars.

Hi all! If you had told me half a year ago that I would take a Chinese, I would have laughed in his face. Before that, I drove a Lancer Sport for 9-6 years from the showroom, the car is certainly fire, but the years and mileage take their toll. I wanted a more high-tech car, the budget was 20 thousand. The priorities were a powerful engine, fuel consumption, equipment, dimensions. I sat in a lot of cars, not one of them made an impression according to my requirements. Afterwards I found out that there is such a miracle of the Chinese-English automobile industry as MG, I went in, fell in love at first sight, sat down, twirled it, drove it... I understood my car... I spent another 1 month studying the MG forum and decided to take it. I am completely satisfied with the car! Flaws? Yes, I have. Who doesn't have them? But against the backdrop of the overall operation of the machine, they pale into insignificance. The only thing I regret is that I didn’t take the automatic... I was somehow too lazy to pull the handle, but it was 2 thousand more expensive. Mileage 5 thousand. Excellent flight. If you want a powerful manual engine with a large interior and rich equipment, then this is what you need! Don’t be scared that he’s Chinese, I was scared too, but stereotypes are changing, you don’t need to chase what you can’t afford for money. I know one thing: a good car is a new car, it should work for us, not we for it. I'm happy with the choice, the mileage is 5 thousand, 100 thousand it runs without any problems, I'm sure of it!

    Hi all.
I see that there are not many such cars in the city, but I will say a few words about it. For relatively little money, about $18,000, this car has everything you need for comfortable driving. True, 160 horses is not enough for me, but for driving around the city it is enough. I was walking along the highway at 180 km per hour, I could have gone faster, but I didn’t. And it’s quite a good car, it looks unusual and not cheap.

Design. - Not a bad audio system. - Build quality. - Good gearbox (I didn’t notice any glitches, delays, etc.). - Good brakes. - Very exclusive (only 3 units in the city).

There is no release button on the trunk. - Non-split rear seat (standard). - The plastic near the automatic transmission lever is not wear-resistant enough (covered with small scratches). - There is no adjustment of the steering wheel for reach.

As for China, the car is chic. You can feel the English roots. Somewhat reminiscent of the Skoda Octavia. Good metal, spacious
    Interior, computer, original instrument panel.
Disadvantage: rare model, spare parts are scarce.

The long saga began with the need for the cheapest foreign car “not a vegetable”, since I was tired of the auto industry, and definitely a hatchback. I accidentally came across a Rover 200 on the Internet, and a week later I went and bought it at a car market. After driving for literally six months, the opportunity arose to exchange for a 25 Rover (actually the same thing, only fresher, and I liked the design better), having paid an additional $200 after selling mine (strangely enough, I sold it quickly and expensively) and became the proud owner of a Rover 25 1.6 109 l. With. Actually, like almost any owner of the 25 Rover, he began to look at the MG ZR, naturally the MG ZR160, it was this model that aroused interest. Well, by coincidence, I bought myself a yellow MG ZR 160 mk1, exactly the same as the one from Kozanostra. Having driven it for a year and a half, and not knowing any sadness (I just drive a lot, the mileage has exceeded 100 thousand km), I thought about such a unit, which is what I got. MG ZR 160 mk2, produced in 2005. The last model, produced for only a few months before the plant closed. 160 l. s., 1.8 VVC, the engine does not cause any trouble, the suspension is Honda (steering, etc., in general it is a lot like Concerto or Civic), there is actually nothing to break there. Of course, it’s not a 2.5 turbo, but you can compete with a lot of people. =) It’s just right for the city, and you feel confident on the highway. With a very modest appetite (if you don’t constantly push to the floor, then the average consumption is 10-11 l/100 km. And the most interesting thing is that I’m sure that I won’t meet anyone else with such a car on the road. =) I haven’t changed anything from stock yet . I still plan to install xenon (I know that atas will come and talk about the harm of collective farm xenon, but, alas, I will install it anyway). =) Well, there are plans to completely change the acoustics. And you don’t need to do anything else here, just enjoy the trips, or rather the sharp jumps from one point of the city to another.

The car was selected for a novice female car enthusiast. There were quite a lot of options, almost all of the B-class and part of the C were in the price segment from 12 to 16 cu. Fundamentally, the emphasis was placed on mechanics (this is the position of a novice driver). This representative of a very interesting combination of English engineering and Chinese labor immediately attracted interest due to its original design (really original, and not a banal copy of a famous brand) and workmanship. Moreover, initially I inspected MG3 and... didn’t get hooked. To clear our conscience, we went to see the last copy of the MG5 in Ukraine (as of today) (from the 3rd they turned out to be almost the same price), standing forlornly in the farthest corner of the observation deck of another car showroom... After 3 days, the car was already setting off to conquer the E95 highway . The following were added to the standard equipment: tinting, alarm, crankcase protection, xenon. Driving qualities, namely dynamics, efficiency have not yet been assessed - for obvious reasons, it is too early. Ergonomics: driver's seat - I managed to find more or less successful settings for both me (182/82) and my daughter (162/48), but the seats were a bit hard - by the end of the trip the contact points experienced not obvious, but still discomfort, and the lateral support of the seats left much to be desired; but access to the controls is free, visibility is decent, the instrument cluster is easy to read at any time of the day, however, there was a blunder - on the tachometer the zone of exorbitant revolutions is very painful for the eye :(. The location of the button for switching information of the on-board computer was chosen in an original way - switching the light or turning on the turn signal “automatically” changes the data on the display:(. A mobile charger was NOT NEEDED, the standard USB socket successfully allowed us to charge all mobile devices of travelers:). The rear view mirrors are not large, but visibility is good. We had to get used to the work window lifters, there are nuances, especially for the driver's side:(, although not critical. Optics... and what can I say, everything is simply visible, even oncoming drivers (though only one after another) blinked their high beams with a “satisfied” look. Interior noise insulation is at a good level :), only the tires are very noisy (if they don’t behave adequately, you’ll have to replace them :() The suspension pleased me - the settings are beyond praise, the “little things” in the form of tram tracks remained practically unnoticed, the trajectory on the “washboard” was not changed, the handling is good, the steering wheel is quite sharp (although it is not particularly informative - power steering). .. these are my first impressions so far. Preliminary assessment - good with a plus. A more detailed assessment will be made after a run of 5000-7000, while the first 1000 km have been completed. I see no reason to doubt, buy - the rest is your skill and attitude...

Basic version price. Quality of assembly and finishing materials. Good equipment. Low consumption with normal dynamics.

Poor sound insulation (I think I'll make some noise later). On strong holes it hits the steering wheel.

Good afternoon I purchased this miracle in Nikolaev, where I actually live. I spent a long time choosing, comparing with competitors, at first I didn’t want China, but as I was already convinced, there wasn’t enough Chinese in this car. In principle, at this price point you can’t buy a purebred German)) At first I thought RIO, but there is also only a Korean design, everything else is a collection like in the MG, I drove it, the torpedo creaked sadly on a new car... the interior is cramped (I’m 190 tall) I don’t care fit in In terms of the KIA engine, the 1.6 is a good one, but for my money, only the 1.4, which disappointed me, drives weakly without air conditioning. The overall impression is not a Korean car, good only in the picture, disappointing. Almera didn’t look and didn’t like it purely outwardly. I won’t buy something that won’t please the eye) Fiat was not considered as an option at all.

I went and looked at the 350 after all, a friend advised me to buy Emgrand from them. We arrived and started looking and touching. The first impression was super - the design was modern, but at the same time, the consistent rib along the entire body was generally liked. In general, one can almost say love at first sight. The metal is not pressed anywhere, but on the contrary the sound is dull (I understand that this is not an indicator of safety, but still I am a person of prejudice, I have an association that the Chinese are made of paper). The seller, of course, convinced that this was almost a pure Englishman, but I don’t think so)). The next pleasant surprise was the interior. I sat down, moved back to the maximum and really almost couldn’t reach the steering wheel or the pedals, given my height... I adjusted it to suit myself, sat in the back and I can’t even reach another 5 cm from the driver’s seat - that’s it! The torpedo is soft, the door cards are covered with a rag. The doors close with a pleasant dull bang, easily and always the first time)) The equipment is excellent, everything you need is there. In general, the most important thing left is to drive. We signed up for a test drive - of course, I won’t say that you can fully experience all the advantages and disadvantages in a short period of time and road, but nevertheless I really liked it. Sound insulation is average but in this price segment it doesn’t get any better! The dynamics are excellent, especially at high speeds. It steers very well, the brakes are all disc, powerful, and easy to adjust with a smooth pedal stroke. The gears are long - at third 2 thousand rpm = 60 km. Filled with mega positive emotions, I went home; I had to make a final decision, and the next day it was made and I became the proud owner of a white MG 350 1.5 STD.

I've been riding for 4 months now, the mileage is almost 9 thousand km. Everyone is happy. As promised, after the first thousand it became faster, it immediately reacts to the gas pedal and not with a half-second pause as at the beginning of operation. The dynamics are pleasing - after 3 thousand there is a noticeable pickup and spins up to 7 thousand and a consumption of 7.5 liters in the city. and 6 liters at a speed of 120-130. There have been no breakdowns yet and I don’t think there should be any at this mileage. In general, the car definitely justified its money, so far everyone is happy, and then the operation will tell. An excellent choice for the money.

    MG 3 2014

    MG 3 2014

Robot - shifts during leisurely driving are felt mainly only by the driver. Minus - it rolls on a slide like a mechanic, it’s not difficult to get used to; Metal body (the latest crash test showed that this Chinese is no worse than European state employees); Plastic body kit (already helped the rear doors :)); Parktronic; Build quality; Oddly enough, gasoline consumption (highway 6 or less at a speed of 90-100, city is still 9 or less (without heavy traffic jams)). Everything according to BC; Equipment and price.

The prefix Cross refers only to the plastic body kit; the car is low and not very suitable for off-road use; Long front overhang; The trunk is small and obtuse; AIS, spare parts, extras; The interior design can be called “youth”... in the 350 sedan everything is more serious, but I wanted a small hatch; No ISOFIX.

First car. I was choosing between Zaz Vida and Emgrand EC7-rv (after prices went up). I wanted a non-mechanic.

Before the price increase, I was thinking about Rio or Accent (then I burned out, why should a car assembled in Russia from Chinese components cost SO much more?..). According to the description and reviews, I liked the Sandero... after I sat in it and felt it - no longer... a car for that kind of money and with a Romanian (Europe, hello...) assembly should be made of better quality (+ only mechanics).

The result is that the club forum scared me off from Vida, the smell and size from EC7, I saw the three in the same salon, showed it to more experienced comrades, thought about it and decided to try it.

Passed 0 maintenance (nothing to compare with, service at AIS service raised questions). So far I have not regretted the choice. After 9 months and 18 days Alexander Korotenko added: Passed TO1. The winter went well, there were no problems with starting or running gear.
Among the discovered shortcomings are small buttons - it is quite difficult to turn on the blowing or heating of the glass, or the emergency lights while driving blindly. Well, the ground clearance is protected by about 12.5 cm on stock tires.
I’m not disappointed, only the sales of the brand in Ukraine are depressing. Something like this. Don't be fooled by the Cross prefix, this is a car for the city and the highway. I think there will be no complaints about the quality, but be prepared for the fact that it will be more difficult to get spare parts than, say, for Aveo. 4MG ZR 2002

    MG ZR 2002

Style and bright appearance. Good equipment. Cheap spare parts (for personal purchase). Easy to repair. The body is resistant to corrosion.

Stiff suspension. It takes a long time to sell (many people don’t know MG and are afraid). Some parts still need to be ordered and waited. Engine nuances (see review text)

INTRODUCTION: Last winter, before the New Year, there was a passionate desire to renew the vehicle fleet. The budget was up to 250 thousand. I wanted an interesting, bright car, a lot of options were reviewed. Quite by accident I wandered into the MG section. I saw it and fell in love :) I'm going to look - the bright blue color changes shade depending on the lighting (and the factory color), the sports seats hug the body pleasantly and reliably, the aggressive appearance attracts the eye. We put it on a lift, look at the suspension, check the engine and paintwork. I am satisfied with the results (a pair of silent blocks for the suspension for replacement, and the lower cushion of the internal combustion engine) and pick up the car. EQUIPMENT: In terms of stuffing, everything is the same as in modern cars: 2 airbags, ABS, air conditioning, electric windows, electric mirrors, heated rear window, fog lights, alarm system with central control, radio with 6 standard speakers and sports seats trimmed in leatherette with fabric. An interesting feature is that the rear windows are not solid, but have a micro-ventilation function - very practical in summer. The car is also standard equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, which add even more sportiness to its appearance. FEELINGS DRIVING: So, we're getting there. The standard alarm is activated from the remote control only from a distance of 5 meters or closer. A strange feature, I got used to it over time. When triggered, the horn screams so loudly that you know for sure that mine is indignant! We open the wide door and sit in the bucket seat. The lateral support is very developed, so when landing, you cling to the left side with your foot, which is why, over time, cracks and abrasions appear on its leather cover. We turn the key, and a 1.4 liter engine comes to life under the hood (in my version, a hotter 1.8 liter engine with a power of 160 horsepower was also produced). The hydraulic compensators rattle and the muffler growls. We get underway and start accelerating - up to 3 thousand it goes a little sluggishly, after which it starts coming up to 5.5 thousand revolutions. It justifies its 103 power, consumption is from 7 to 10, depending on the pedal presses. The gearbox pleases with clear shifts, 4 gears are selected for comfortable city driving, the fifth allows you to go 120 without excessive engine noise on the highway. The suspension is quite stiff, but very grippy in corners and on a straight line. The car steers very nicely, it resembles a go-kart, and it’s a pleasure to maneuver! Ground clearance is the same as most golf-class cars, such as Lancer 10, Kia Sid, etc. Over the winter I got stuck a couple of times, along with other cars. It’s comfortable to sit in the front, not so much in the back; if desired, five people can fit in the cabin and even travel about 200 km, thanks to the comfortable rear seat (which, by the way, folds down to form space for transporting, for example, a packaged gas stove). The quality of the paint is good (not counting the edges of the rear arches - sand flies from under the wheels and over time the paint will peel off), the body has been treated from the factory with some good anti-corrosive agent, which ideally preserves the bottom and sill without a single hint of rust. The brakes are normal, the ABS confidently copes with its task. But from a speed of 140 mph after a couple of intense braking, it slows down reluctantly - it overheats, it needs time to cool down. There are discs at the front and drums at the rear. On version 1.8 - all disc brakes. The car attracts attention, and that's a fact. The most basic question - what kind of brand is this - is asked by 95% of the population. The car is also attractive to girls, thanks to its rich color and sporty appearance. MAINTENANCE: Contrary to expectations, there are no problems with service and spare parts. And here's why - many components and parts are unified with its quiet twin brother, Rover 25, which is widespread throughout our country. The only issue is the bodywork. The bumpers are only original and are not often found on sale. The solution is simple - order from Lithuania and Germany, where there are many such cars, as well as from Belarus, where such models are sometimes found at showdowns. The cost of bumpers is 150-250 dollars for the front, 100 for the rear. There is also a nuance with various little things in the cabin and electrics. It is also decided that everything is available abroad. There is a Lithuanian on the Belarusian forum of Rover MG lovers, his name is Andrey - he has everything, well, almost everything for these cars, at very reasonable prices, I recommend it. K-series engines have two features - the problem of cylinder head gasket breakdown, as well as unstable idle speed. This is typical for both Rovers and MGs, because... the motor is essentially the same. These are the problems we had to face. With the first one, the antifreeze suddenly began to leak. I checked the oil level - and it was above the mark, and the oil was the color of coffee with milk (emulsion is the main sign of a gasket failure). We are starting to renovate. On average, a cylinder head gasket lasts 150 thousand km. Mine has passed 184 thousand. When troubleshooting the cylinder head, at the same time I replaced all the valves (150 RUR/piece), oil seals (500 RUR set), oil seals (100 RUR/piece), manifold gaskets (200-250 RUR/piece), valve cover gasket (200 RUR), the cylinder head gasket itself ( 850r) and for prevention of cylinder head bolts (1300r). And of course I changed the filters (180r+250r+320r) and oil (1200) with antifreeze (600r). Almost 4 liters of oil, 5-5.5 liters of antifreeze. I advise you not to skimp on both, and if there is a gasket breakdown, be sure to clean the cooling system! I also recommend checking the cylinder head for cracks and evenness of the surface; if sharpening is necessary, it is better to choose a multilayer cylinder head gasket instead of a standard one, which will compensate for the metal removed during milling of the surface. Both of them are available for sale, the price differs by a couple of hundred. Replacement work costs from 4 to 12 thousand rubles, depending on the greed of the craftsmen, and takes a couple of days. After this, the engine runs happily for another 100+ thousand km. if the mechanic did everything correctly and observed the tightening torques (tighten the cylinder head bolts no more than 30 Nm in several approaches!). Having dealt with this problem, a month later I learned a new one. The idle speed began to float. I read the forums, tried cleaning the throttle valve and the idle air valve. It helped for a short time, then the failures began. the car started to stall. The reason for this was the MAP sensor and the idle air valve itself. We were ordered safely used from England, along with a set of other (crankshaft, camshafts, throttle valve, engine control unit) electronic spare parts, just in case. The entire set with delivery cost 3,500, the delivery time was a month (since delivery was the cheapest). I installed the MAP and idle air valve, carried out adaptation (without it, replacement may not help immediately, or may not help at all). The car began to behave decently again. It also happened that the car was stuttering in the morning, sometimes twitching while driving. It seemed like the fuel pump was dying. After removing the tank I found out that it was still factory. I also saw a terribly clogged fuel pump mesh and all sorts of nasty things in the tank itself. I decided to take a chance and replaced only the mesh. And he was right - the original pump still works flawlessly to this day, there are no more blunts. If such problems arise, I advise you to start with the mesh. By the way, a non-original fuel pump costs 1000. The suspension is simple and unpretentious. The assembled lever costs 1200 rubles (non-original), shock absorber 2500 rubles, spring 1100 rubles, steering end 400 rubles, stabilizer links 250 per piece, bushings 90 rubles. The original shock absorbers have been working for five years now, everything is fine. Engine mounts are a little expensive (from 1500 to 2500 per piece, because only the original), but they cost more than 100 thousand. Among the personal improvements - I made a button for opening the trunk, and removed the rod for opening the lock from the street. The specificity of the central locking is that when the car is open, all doors are accessible, including the luggage compartment. Standing at a traffic light or parking lot, anyone can come up from behind and open the back door, taking out the things lying in it. This arrangement did not suit me - I removed the rod that goes to open the lock from the outside, and installed a universal trunk opening solenoid (350 rubles), placed the button on the dashboard - practical and safe. To summarize - the car is cheap to maintain, with a competent approach to purchasing spare parts. Consumables are available in all online stores, small parts are available on ebay and English forums for Rover MG enthusiasts. Without taking into account the nuances of the engine, the car is unpretentious. The design of the car itself is simple and will not make it difficult to repair if you have the skills to service any other foreign car. TO SUM UP: the car is perfect for a young guy or a stylish girl who wants to stand out in the crowd. The suspension may seem harsh - there is a solution, this is installing wheels of a smaller diameter and springs with shock absorbers from Rover 25. But then the car loses its sporty style - personally, I wouldn’t go for it :) If you delve into the issues of maintenance and purchasing spare parts, the car is completely not burdensome in content. A careless attitude and taking it to unqualified services without personal control of the process - alas, can lead to dire consequences for both the car and the contents of the wallet... however, this is typical for most cars. For those who like to rock out, I recommend the version with the 1.8 engine; the 1.4 engine is less dynamic, but sufficient for the city.

MG Cars is a company originally from Foggy Albion, currently owned by the Chinese Nanjing Automobile Group. In the past, the company primarily specialized in sports cars, but today it is focused primarily on passenger cars. The entire MG Cars range.

MG made a name for itself primarily with its two-seat sports convertibles, which were a very interesting and unusual design for its time. The main production was in Abingdon, near Oxford. In the period 1990 - 2000, MG was owned by BMW, and since 2005 its owner is NAG, which restored the production of the sports car line.

The founder of the company was bicycle mechanic Morris, who at the beginning of the 20th century opened a retail car store, which by 1910 had become a major center for the car trade “Morris Garage”. After 13 years, the company came to the realization of the need to produce and sell its own cars under the MG brand. Created on the basis of the Maurice Minor car, equipped with an overhead valve engine, the cars acquired a reputation as nimble and relatively inexpensive sports cars.

The first car that made the MG brand popular was the two-seater Midget roadster. The success of this model inspired modern designers to create the TF Roadster.

The rise and fall of the brand

The company flourished in the late 50s, after joining the British Motor Corporation along with another domestic manufacturer, Austin Motor Company. New corporate developments literally saved the company.

For example, the new suspension, used for the first time on the Y-type model, earned such good reviews that this scheme began to be used on a number of other new cars. Success came with new roadsters: MGA, MGB, MGC, fastback MGB GT and the updated Midget line.

In 1968, Rover, Jaguar, and Triumph were added to the Navy, thereby transforming into a completely new entity - the British Leyland Corporation. In the development strategy of the new association there is no place left for MG and they stop funding it, nationalize it and disband the plant staff.

But in 1982 BLC decided to release small cars with the MG emblem. So it appeared on the Metro, Maestro, Montego, and on the small, all-electric Impact.

    Second birth

After acquiring the Nanjing company, the production of previous MG models with some upgrades was launched on its own territory. For example, the MG7 model, very similar to the Rover 75, appears, as well as the MG350, MG550, MG750 sedans.

In the winter of 2007, NAC merged with SAIC, which ultimately contributed to the return of MG production to its historical homeland. In the fall of 2008, after a long period of inactivity, MG finally released its first own model, the MGTF LE 500. And in May 2011, the production of the C-class hatchback, the MG6 GT, was launched.

Almost simultaneously, the plant introduced a sedan of the same class, the MG6 Magnette. 2013 was marked by the presentation of the five-door hatchback MG 3, and in the fall of the same year the first copy was sold.

At the moment, MG3 and MG6 are successfully sold in GT, Magnette and BTCC Edition trim levels. The company plans to produce small crossovers MG CS and MG Icon. A coupe and possibly a convertible are rumored to be in the works. The company is developing confidently, continuing the long-standing traditions of the company.
