Oil for walk-behind tractor: for engine, gearbox, transmission. Neva walk-behind tractor how much oil is in the engine Oil volume in the Neva gearbox MB 2

Each device used always requires proper operation and careful care, so in no case should you neglect the specified technical assistant. Modern farmers are increasingly using in their activities the famous Neva walk-behind tractors, which first appeared in the 80s and have not yet lost their popularity; moreover, they have significantly increased the level of productivity and have become a standard of quality. But even such powerful devices fail over time, so you need to understand the main causes of malfunctions and understand how to get rid of the problems yourself.

Repair of the Neva walk-behind tractor: how to do everything right without the help of specialists

First, it should be noted that among the many models of this manufacturer, it is MB1 and MB2 that are considered the most famous and widespread. Using their example, we will deal with common malfunctions.

MB-1

The focus was on the most common problems. Thanks to the instruction manual, you can easily understand the features and carry out repairs yourself.

MB-2

  • If the owner of the unit is faced with the impossibility of separating the axle shafts, he needs to check the drive adjustment and change the cable tension;
  • Self-switching of gears is often the result of a malfunction such as a violation of the shift control system. Then you should reduce the tension of the screws holding the board, engage 1st gear and again tighten the screws as much as possible;
  • If there is no kinematic connection in the gearbox, it is necessary to update the shift fork.

Solutions to other problems and more detailed information about using the walk-behind tractor can be found in specialized operating manuals designed for new and old devices.

Changing the oil on the Neva walk-behind tractor

It is worth noting that the choice of oil and the replacement process itself are often quite problematic. Therefore, many owners of Neva MB1 and MB2 walk-behind tractors ask the question: “What kind of oil should I pour into the Neva walk-behind tractor and how to do it?”

An important point: the filling process is the same for both models, only the types of gear oils differ:

  • The unit must be installed vertically;
  • Then you should place a tank with a volume of at least 3 liters under the gearbox itself;
  • You need to unscrew the breather plug and carefully clean it of any contaminants;
  • By screwing in the oil drain screw, the existing oil should be drained;
  • Now you can start filling in fresh transmission oil of a certain type (volume 2.2 l);
  • Screw in the breather plug, wipe the bushing and the axis of the drive belt tension lever and lubricate them with oil;
  • Make sure the clutch mechanism is working properly and lubricate it.

It is always worth remembering that the gearbox of the Neva MB1 and MB1 walk-behind tractors must be serviced after every 100 hours of use.

Any technology has a complex structure where everything is interconnected. If you value your equipment and want it to last as long as possible, then you should not only take care of it, but also purchase high-quality parts, fuel and oil.

Today, almost every farmer already knows about such equipment as walk-behind tractors. They are produced by different companies all over the world. At the same time, it is a mistake to believe that Chinese products are worse than, for example, European ones. Often, very high quality components are used in China, but the price remains low. Motoblocks "Neva" MB are produced in Russia and are in great demand due to their excellent quality, reliability, efficiency and a huge selection of attachments.

However, if you use low-quality oil poured into the gearbox or engine in the Neva walk-behind tractor, then you may end up encountering a number of problems and you will even need to have your equipment repaired. In this article we will look at which oils are suitable for this unit, as well as the rules for changing the oil in a walk-behind tractor.

Oil for the Neva walk-behind tractor in the gearbox

The gearbox is one of the most important components of any mechanism, including walk-behind tractors. What type of oil to fill, how often to change, how to check its quantity - every owner of such equipment should know the answers to all these questions. Before purchasing oil, read the operating instructions for the unit. There the manufacturer gives his recommendations, which are the most accurate and recommended.

Type of oil for different models of walk-behind tractors:

  • The following oil is suitable for the Neva walk-behind tractor MB 1: transmission TEP-15 according to GOST 23652-79, TM-5 according to GOST 17479.2-85. You need to fill in a volume of 2.2 liters;
  • for the Neva unit, MB 2 is suitable according to GOST 23652-79, such as TAP-15V or TAD-17I.

For the normal operation of the gearbox, not only the choice of a reputable oil manufacturer is of great importance, but also replacing it in a timely manner. It needs to be replaced regularly, at certain intervals. This will extend the life of the gearbox. We offer you some tips on how to replace it:

  1. The walk-behind tractor must be strictly vertical;
  2. Place a large container (at least 3 liters) under the product;
  3. Unscrew the breather and clean it;
  4. Unscrew the screw and drain all the oil;
  5. Tighten the screw into place;
  6. Fill in new clean oil with the required amount;
  7. Close the breather;
  8. Check the functionality of the equipment.

There are still some points that you should know before you start working on the walk-behind tractor. As you know, the unit needs to be run in for some time. After approximately 30-35 hours of break-in, you should replace the oil with new oil. After this, the oil should be changed every 150-200 hours of operation, and if you do not use the equipment, then every 1-2 years.

Engine oil

Oil plays the most important role in an engine, ensuring its normal and efficient operation. The operating instructions that come with the unit itself will help you decide which oil to prefer.

The oil is selected according to its operational category and viscosity type. Based on the viscosity of oils, there are winter (low-viscosity), summer (high-viscosity) and all-season (universal).

In order to know what oil to fill, you must check the brand of the engine itself:

  1. Honda. Both in winter and summer you can fill in SAE 10W-30 oil. If you prefer to use oil seasonally, then choose it based on the temperature conditions of the area where you live. Operational class - SG, SF;
  2. Robin Subaru. In summer it is recommended to use SAE 10W-30 oil, in winter - SAE 5W-30. Operating type - motor oil for cars of SE, SG, SH, SJ classes;
  3. Lifan. In summer - SAE 30, in winter - SAE 10W-30, which is universal;
  4. Briggs & Stratton. If you plan to work in winter, then use synthetic oil or non-synthetic Briggs & Stratton 10W-30 with article number 998208. As is known, an air-cooled engine warms up much faster, hence the consumption of non-synthetic oil, such as 10W-30 , 5W-30, will be increased. Therefore, you will need to check its level more often and top it up on time.

How often do you need to change oil in different engines:

  1. Robin Subaru. Every time you get ready for work, you should first measure the oil level and, if necessary, fill it to the maximum level. The first time you need to change the oil is after about 20 hours of operation, and then every 100 hours of operation;
  2. Honda and Lifan. Always check the oil level before work. Replacement - after the first 20 hours of operation, and after that - every six months;
  3. Briggs & Stratton. After you first work for 5 hours. Check the oil level regularly, namely every time before work or every 8 hours of work. Change the oil completely either every season or every 50 hours of operation.

  1. Never use additives or oil additives.
  2. The oil level must be checked when the walk-behind tractor is in a level position. You must wait until it completely drains into the crankcase.
  3. If you decide to completely change the oil, drain it while the engine is hot.
  4. Dispose of oil in an environmentally friendly manner, i.e. do not pour it on the ground or throw it in the trash. For this purpose, there are special collection points for used engine oil.

Gearbox for walk-behind tractor Neva

For modern gardeners, cultivating a plot of land is no longer as big a problem as it was in the recent past. Such universal equipment as walk-behind tractors has appeared on sale, which make life much easier for agronomists and gardeners.

Neva walk-behind tractors are one of the best units in their line. They are reliable, durable and multifunctional. You will be able to cultivate the land, care for plants, and collect and transport crops and garbage.

Here we will tell you about the gearbox for the Neva walk-behind tractor, its design and repair. This is one of the most significant elements in any car, so if you want it to last a long time and without breakdowns, you must know all the intricacies of its design, as well as the causes of malfunctions and methods for eliminating them.

Gearbox design on the Neva walk-behind tractor

The gearbox of the Neva walk-behind tractor is responsible for transmitting the rotation coming from the motor to the wheels and attachments. It controls the rotation number, speed, as well as the direction - forward or backward. In principle, the gearbox for models MB 2 and MB 1 is not much different, so here we will consider the second option. The gearbox is designed in such a way that the components necessary for changing gears are located on its outer part of the housing.

The gearshift lever has 5 positions. When you push it, the fork disengages the clutch. When you drop the lever, the fork resumes its original position. The walk-behind tractor will pause when the drive is connected to the right axle shaft. Torque comes from the sprocket. When the handle is recessed, engaging the left sprocket, the gear is reduced. If you need top gear, the handle needs to be pulled out all the way.

Gearbox malfunctions and repairs

Like any other equipment, walk-behind tractors can also fail. If the problem lies in the gearbox, you need to disassemble it and repair it. Often the breakdown turns out to be insignificant and you can easily deal with it yourself.

First, you need to thoroughly clean this part from dirt and residual oil, which will also need to be drained. All parts must be inspected and checked for damage. If something fails, it needs to be replaced. Use only new elements that are suitable specifically for your Neva walk-behind tractor model. Also, do not forget to add oil after assembly.

Some common gearbox failures:

  • the spring or clamps are broken. They need to be replaced with new ones and then adjusted;
  • The settings in the switching system have gone wrong. You need to loosen the screws, engage first gear, tighten the screws back;
  • Oil is oozing through the shaft. Most likely the reason is the cuff, which is worn out. It needs to be replaced with a new one. How to replace oil seals? It is enough to remove the old ones by prying them off with a screwdriver or other object and install new ones;
  • jamming appeared. This may be due to an open circuit. It needs to be replaced with a new one;
  • you can't record the transfer. The reason is that the fork brush is worn out, so it needs to be replaced.

These are the main and most common gearbox failures. It is very important - if you cannot fix the breakdown yourself, then you should seek help from professionals.

Changing the oil in the gearbox of the Neva walk-behind tractor

It is also worth talking separately about changing the oil in the gearbox of the Neva walk-behind tractor. This must be done every fifty hours of operation. It is also important to check the oil level. A straight wire is suitable for this. You put it in a container with oil and it should be 25-30 centimeters wet. You will learn which oil to fill into the gearbox of the Neva walk-behind tractor from the operating instructions. Most often these are transmission TAD-17I, TAP-15V and others in accordance with GOST 23652-79.

Change the oil immediately after operating the walk-behind tractor to do this:
1. Place the walk-behind tractor in a vertical position.
2. Place a container of at least 3 liters under the gearbox.
3. Remove the breather plug and clean it of dirt.
4. Remove the oil drain screw and drain the oil from the gearbox.
5. After draining the oil, screw in the oil drain screw with the gasket and tighten the screw. Dispose of the oil at a waste oil collection point.
6. Fill in 2.2 liters of fresh transmission oil of a brand corresponding to the operating temperature through the hole under the breather plug.
7. Screw in the breather plug.
8. Clean the axis of the drive belt tension lever and the bushing from dirt.
9. Lubricate the drive belt tension lever shaft and bushing with engine oil.
10. Check the functionality of the clutch mechanism, adjust the tension of the drive belt.
11. Lubricate the clutch cable.
12. Lubricate the cable of the wheel axle release mechanism by applying a few drops of any engine oil into the gap between the cable and the shell on the lever side.

Let's try to generalize:

  • the first oil change in the walk-behind tractor gearbox during break-in - after 25-50 hours of operation
  • frequency of oil changes - after 100-250 hours of operation or 1-2 years during storage

The second point is often not taken into account by those who do not carefully read the instructions; as a result, manufacturers of walk-behind tractors complain that buyers in Russia practically do not change the oil in the gearbox; at best, they monitor its level and top it up. If you want your equipment to serve for a long time and reliably follow the manufacturer’s advice.

A motor cultivator is a technical tool that is often found on the farm. It allows you to quickly cultivate the soil.

But in order for the walk-behind tractor to function for a long time and efficiently, it requires competent maintenance.

The gearbox of a walk-behind tractor is a significant design element. So all owners of such equipment need to know what kind of oil to pour into the walk-behind tractor gearbox, how often it should be changed, etc. It is best to follow the manufacturer's recommendations. For example, changing the oil in the gearbox of a Neva walk-behind tractor, according to the manufacturer’s advice, should be done every 100 hours of operation.

All the necessary information can always be found in the instructions. But there are situations when people purchase used equipment. In this case, a person may not have information about what kind of transmission fluid should be poured into the gearbox and how to do it correctly.

It is responsible for converting and transporting torque that comes from mechanical transmissions. We can say that this component allows the walk-behind tractor to work. The efficiency of its operation, and, consequently, the efficiency of the entire device will depend on whether the correct lubricant is selected for the gearbox.

Gearboxes come in several types: angular, gear, reduction and reverse. They all have the same components.

Which oil is better to use?

When choosing a lubricant, you should avoid options that are too cheap. They may be of poor quality. In addition to the price, you should also pay attention to the viscosity of the lubricant. It is indicated on the packaging. There are many special additives that improve the quality of transmission fluid.

Types of oils

SAE

Oils of this type perfectly withstand large temperature changes. So they can be successfully used all year round. When choosing a lubricant of this type, you need to pay attention to the number located in front of the letter W; it shows the oil’s adaptability to low temperatures. The lower this number is, the more adaptable the oil will be. If there is no letter W on the marking, then this lubricant is suitable for use in summer.

API

Here the letters on the packaging will indicate the type of engine. Each specific letter will indicate that the transmission fluid is suitable for a specific type of engine. The numbers indicate engine types. So, for example, the number 4 indicates that the lubricant should be used for a four-stroke engine. The EU value speaks of energy conservation. The higher it is, the higher quality the transmission fluid will be.

ASEA

The largest number on the marking will indicate that the lubricant can be used in extreme conditions.

GOST 17479, 1-85

These indicators determine the viscosity level of the transmission fluid. Typically, numerical and alphabetic values are written after this parameter. If they are not present, then this indicates that the lubricant is universal.

ZIC 10W40

ZIC 10W40 oil is of good quality and has good reviews. It can be used in both gasoline and diesel walk-behind tractors.

Super T-3 85W-90

Another worthy option is Super T-3 85W-90 oil. It retains fluidity even at fairly low temperatures and has good viscosity.

By paying attention to the main parameters, each person will be able to choose the right oil for the walk-behind tractor gearbox, taking into account the operating conditions of the equipment and the type of engine.

How much oil should be poured into the gearbox?

The issue of transmission fluid volume is very important. Before answering this, you will need to determine the oil level. It's very easy to do.

Place the walk-behind tractor on a level surface so that its wings are parallel to it. Take a wire 70 cm long. It will be used instead of a probe. Bend it into an arc, and then insert it all the way into the filler hole. After that, take it back.

Inspect the wire, if it is stained with grease by 30 cm, then the oil level is normal. If there is less than 30 centimeters of oil on it, it will need to be added.

If the gearbox is completely dry, then 2 liters of transmission fluid will be required.

How to fill oil into the gearbox?

The frequency of replacing transmission fluid will depend on the model of the cultivator. But, as a rule, replacement is carried out every 100 hours of operation of the equipment. In certain cases, more frequent replacement may be required - every 50 hours. If the walk-behind tractor is new, then the first oil change after running it in should be done after 25-50 hours.

Regular replacement of transmission fluid is required not only because it is recommended by the manufacturer, but also for a number of other reasons.

During operation of the walk-behind tractor, foreign metal particles appear in the lubricant. They arise due to friction of the components of the walk-behind tractor, which gradually crumble.

As a result, the transmission fluid becomes thicker. This leads to the walk-behind tractor becoming unstable. In some cases, gearbox failure may occur.

Filling in a new lubricant solution helps prevent such troubles and avoid repairs. Replacing transmission fluid is much cheaper than replacing a gearbox.

If you want your equipment to serve for a long time and faithfully, do not neglect timely oil changes.
