Description of air conditioner buttons. Basic functions and capabilities of air conditioners. Symbols on the air conditioner remote control

Household air conditioners have become widespread throughout the world. Their main task is to create and maintain indoor climate conditions. In addition to the usual heating and cooling functions, most models on the market provide owners with additional features.

Standard Options

The usual functions are present in all devices on the market and are considered a mandatory minimum:

  • change in air temperature. Cooling and heating are indicated by the corresponding icons (snowflake, sun). Both functions are performed through heat exchange processes. You can read more about this in a separate article;
  • air cleaning. The operation of the air conditioner is related to the circulation of air in the room. With the help of filters in the device, the intake air is purified and released into the room without most of the impurities. Depending on the quantity and quality of filters, the degree of purification changes;
  • changing the direction of air flow. On most devices, this function is performed by the “Swing”, “Air direction” or “Flap Air” buttons. When using this option, the slope of the dampers on the air conditioner changes, which allows you to evenly blow air into the room or concentrate the flow in one direction;
  • fan speed adjustment. Denoted as "Fan" or "Fan Speed". Changing the shaft speed speeds up or slows down cooling (or heating);
  • turbo mode(rapid cooling). This function of the air conditioner activates the maximum power of the device to cool the room as quickly as possible. On the remote control, the turbo mode is controlled by the “Turbo”, “High Power”, “Jet Cool” or “Powerfull” buttons;
  • night operating mode or sleeping mode"Good Sleep" In the internal block of the device, the fan speed is reduced to the minimum level. As a result, the air conditioner operates almost silently, without disturbing people's sleep. Additional options for working in night mode are possible: for example, automatically changing the temperature during the night to create a favorable climate;
  • timer. Using the remote control, you can schedule the air conditioner to start before people enter the room or turn off the device after a certain period of time. The timer function allows you to save energy without losing comfort.

Additional options

Such functions are not present in all models, but remain useful:

  • economy mode(energy saving). Allows you to reduce the energy consumption of the air conditioner. The buttons may be labeled "Eco", "Econo" or "Smart Saver";
  • plasma cleaning air. “Plasma” is a function that enables the plasma filter in the device. These filters trap up to 95% of all air pollutants, including smoke and unpleasant odors;
  • ionization(“Ion”, “Nanoe-G”). A fashionable and common feature of modern split systems. The air conditioner releases air containing negatively charged particles.
    In particularly powerful systems, the concentration of such particles reaches 3 thousand per 1 cm3. The functions of plasma cleaning and ionization are similar to each other. If anyone knows the fundamental differences, write in the comments;
  • self-cleaning. During operation, water and other contaminants accumulate in the internal unit of the device. The Auto Clean function allows you to quickly dry moisture, preventing the growth of bacteria and fungi. To some extent, the time of using the device without human intervention or calling a specialist increases;

  • "I Feel" function
    . The air conditioner responds to the temperature, which is determined by a sensor in the control panel. It is enough to place the remote control in the right place, the split system will monitor the climate in this area;
  • silent mode. The “Quiet” function is present in many air conditioners and is similar to night mode. The noise from the device's fans can become annoying. Using the silent operation function, not only indoor climate comfort is maintained, but also the silence necessary for every person;

  • adjusting the backlight from the remote control
    "Light". Using this function, you can turn on and off the LED lighting on the front panel of the split. The light on the body at night can be annoying;
  • "smart eye"(“Econavi”). This function is designed to track the presence of people in the room using tracking sensors on the indoor unit. If there is no one in the room, the air conditioner turns off and does not consume electricity;

  • Wi-Fi control function
    . The option is available in devices with special receivers installed. Through a smartphone or home computer, you can control the air conditioner through programs and applications without using the remote control.

Protective functions

Such options are necessary to prevent short circuits, fires and other consequences of operation:

  • restart in automatic mode. If there is a power failure or electricity loss, the air conditioner will start in the same mode that it was operating before the incident;
  • compressor protection by current, from voltage surges. In case of overvoltage, short circuit and other abnormal network surges, the split system will notify the owner with an error report. The air conditioner will stop working if the voltage jumps to a certain level;
  • defrost mode(“defrost”) During winter periods, ice forms on the outdoor unit of the split system due to the collection of condensate. The function is designed to remove ice. Defrosting the air conditioner has one drawback: while removing ice, the indoor unit stops the cooling or heating process;
  • protection against switching on in cold weather. In winter, the operation of the air conditioner is complicated by the fact that it is impossible to turn it on at a strong “minus” due to the formation of ice on the surface of the device outside. If the operation of the split system is impossible or is associated with a risk due to low temperature, the protective function will not allow activation;
  • self-diagnosis. A function that allows you to regularly check all device systems for functionality. Auto diagnostics will help prevent breakdowns and reduce the cost of repairs;
  • "warm start". “Hot Start” is used in the cold season, when the air conditioner operates in heating mode. When this option is activated, the supply of cool air to the room is excluded.

The number and types of functions in household air conditioners affect their cost. Some additional device features are not needed by future owners. Purchasing a model without additional bells and whistles will save on the purchase, but may increase the cost of operation in the future.

An air conditioner is, first of all, a device for maintaining the desired temperature in a room. The transfer of air conditioners from one mode to another occurs both manually and from a remote control. In any price category there are air conditioners with the same functionality.

The presence of operations on it depends on the configuration. As a rule, a household unit has several functions that are designated on the air conditioner remote control in the form of intuitive symbols. What modes the icons and inscriptions symbolize will be discussed in this article.

General air conditioner modes

The basic functions of an air conditioning device are found in every classic product, and they have designations of air conditioning modes in the form of symbols and inscriptions in English. However, most of these words require translation.

In this row, you can determine what functions the air conditioner performs in the form of the following inscriptions and signs:

  • Cool – coolness, indicated by a snowflake.
  • Heat – heating, there is a sun icon.
  • Dry – drying, icon – drop.
  • Fan speed – ventilation, a propeller is shown next to the inscription.
  • Sleep – night auto mode. Star symbol.
  • Timer – timer. Image of a clock.
  • Swing – direction of air flow through curtains.
  • Lock – child lock button.

When choosing an air conditioner for your home, you usually determine, first of all, energy consumption, and, of course, the minimum possible operations. And although the functions of the air conditioner: air dehumidification, ventilation, ionization and disinfection are not so noticeable at first glance, they significantly increase the comfort of living when using them.

What functions does the air conditioner perform?

The microclimate plays a huge role in a person’s comfortable living. Undoubtedly, being in a room with optimal temperature and normal humidity is much more pleasant than being in a room where it is hot and stuffy.

Although the main task of an air conditioner is to create a cool air flow, it also has other important settings, switching to which will improve the standard of living for household members.

Cooling the room

Each air conditioner is designed primarily to cool the air mass in the room. Switching to this mode is done on the remote control with a button where a snowflake is depicted, which means “cold”.

Good to know! Coolness occurs through a physical process, or, more precisely, the transformation of a substance (refrigerant, freon) from liquid to gaseous state.

When the air conditioner is in auto cooling mode, it turns on when the room temperature rises. After the degree readings have reached their configured value, the compressor in the external module is turned off (if it is a split system). For better comfort, the fan speed in the indoor unit is automatically adjusted depending on the room temperature.

The speed of the outdoor fan changes depending on the condition of the outdoor unit's capacitor. As soon as the moisture release decreases, which means the pressure inside the tubes drops, the compressor turns on and the speed of the fan located outside increases.

At this moment, the warm air formed around the condenser is discharged outside, and the icy refrigerant is driven into the evaporator of the indoor module. The heat exchanger is made in the form of a radiator (copper tubes are fastened together with aluminum plates). Cold air, passing through the grilles, is accelerated by a fan throughout the room.

Heating the room

When the temperature in the room drops, the automatic “cooling” mode switches to the “heating” mode. This is achieved through a 4-way valve, which changes the movement of the refrigerant. And as a result, the outdoor and indoor units change places, or, more precisely, the evaporator works as a condenser, and that, in turn, as a radiator.

Most often, the heating function is designated “heat”, which in Russian for an air conditioner means “heating”, “warmth”. A sun symbol is usually depicted next to the inscription. To switch the air conditioner to the automatic “heating” mode, you need to press the button with a miniature image of the sun and the light on the display should light up.

Air dehumidification

Air humidity in residential premises should be 40-60%. Sometimes it happens that this indicator is higher, and increased humidity creates discomfort. The function of dehumidifying the air mass with an air conditioner is simple.

Moist warm air passes through a cold evaporator (heat exchanger) and as a result, water from the air condenses on the surface. Moisture gradually accumulates in special containers and is then removed through the drainage system to the street.

In general, the dehumidification function can be divided into three stages:

  1. Dehumidification from the remote control button.
  2. Automatic drying.
  3. Switching to air ventilation and drying mode depending on the humidity indicators of the device.

Attention! When the air conditioner operates for dehumidification, the air does not heat up and the temperature in the room remains unchanged, contrary to the opinion of some ordinary people.

Fresh air supply

Over the past decade, supply-type air conditioners have appeared on the market. They differ from traditional split systems by the presence of a ducted air duct, in the system of which atmospheric air can be mixed up to 25% of the device’s power.

An air conditioner with such a mixture has a built-in membrane that regulates the operation of the channel. At the same time, its characteristic property is unequal throughput: oxygen molecules pass through such a membrane much faster and better than molecules of other gases.

However, in most devices in the middle and lower price range, in the “Ventilation” mode, the fan of the indoor unit simply runs idle, thereby distributing air around the room, without real ventilation. In devices that are capable of ventilation, there is always another plastic tube that sucks in air from the street.

Silent or night mode

What does the night function mean in an air conditioner? “Sleep Mode”, or translated into Russian as a night timer, creates favorable conditions for sleep. Switching the air conditioner to this operation is necessary in cases where the room temperature is elevated.

After receiving a command for “dark mode”, the fan in the indoor unit begins to rotate at a slow speed, reducing the sounds from the operating device. After a certain time set for sleep, the timer is triggered and the air conditioner automatically switches to normal operation.

Such orderly operation of the unit saves energy and reduces the noise level during sleep, and the smooth transition of the air conditioner from one mode to another allows you to reach the desired temperature in a short time.

Timer

When it comes to such a useful but little-studied function as a timer, you need to understand that it is present in almost all models of air conditioners. With its help, you can not only make automatic transfers from one mode to another, but also configure more economical operation of the entire device.

Turning on the split system at the time when it brings the greatest benefit to the family and turning it off when the household is away makes the timer a profitable and convenient device. Some manufacturers set one for a period of 12 hours, and there are also manufacturers who set several timers to turn on different modes in the air conditioner.

To set the time, you need to press the “timer” button, after which the signal light on the display will light up. The time can be set in 30 minute intervals for up to 3 hours. And in increments of one hour - up to 24 hours. To activate the timer, after setting the time, no later than 10 seconds, press the Set button. Using the timer, you can enable or disable many additional functions on your air conditioner.

Changing the direction of the curtains (Swing)

This operation allows you to change the location of the blinds in the air conditioner, which helps to purposefully distribute air flows throughout the room. To change the movement of the air mass, you need to turn on the Air divestion button (direction of movement) while the air conditioner is running.

And then, after a three-second exposure, press the “Swing” button. After accepting the command to switch to another mode, the horizontal curtains will automatically swing up and down. To raise the blinds of the air conditioner, you need to use the Airswing button.

Attention! If the air conditioner malfunctions, an error code is displayed on the display, which allows you to accurately diagnose the device.

Accessibility and popular features

Now many manufacturers, in order to attract buyers, improve air conditioners with additional functions.

However, some of them especially attract our attention, such as:

Comfort setting. Turning on the air conditioner in optimal mode from +20˚С to +25˚С

Air cleaning. Occurs due to built-in filters, which differ in permeability and in their constituent material. They come with coarse cleaning, which retains medium and large particles of dirt, as well as fine cleaning, ready to retain even pollen. And even the device can be equipped with filters that can absorb odors.

Ionization. Here the room is saturated with ions with negative charges. The function is designed to improve vitality, immunity and well-being of a person.

Defrosting. At the same time, the heat exchanger is not covered with ice for a long time, which is why its performance is greatly increased.

I-Feel. Setting the air temperature using the sensor in the control panel. Such a transfer of climate control equipment is possible in those air conditioners where the temperature relay, which changes the degrees in the room, is built into the remote control.

Air conditioners sometimes use forced ventilation “fan speed”, which is switched to in case of air circulation, ionization or purification.

The functions of each air conditioner are designed to create a favorable microclimate in the apartment.

On a note! If there are unfamiliar inscriptions on the remote control body, you can select the optimal mode using the “Mode” button. You need to press plus or minus according to this command until the transfer to the desired function occurs.

The list of additional settings depends entirely on the manufacturer and brand of the air conditioner. The designation on the case or remote control of one split system may differ from the same meanings from other manufacturers.

And now it has come, that happy day when you got an air conditioner installed. All you have to do is turn it on, and the device will surround you with its coolness. But don't think that using an air conditioner is easy.

Operating Basics

We approach this matter with all responsibility, and the first thing we do after installing the device is study the operating instructions. Each air conditioner needs its own manual, and the LG brand will never fit the instructions from Ballu.

User Guide

In this small book you can find all the information you need: how to turn the device on and off, how to set the desired operating mode, how to properly care for your new assistant in the house.

Turn the device on and off using the remote control or without

In order to operate the device, manufacturers strongly recommend using only the remote control. As for window air conditioners, it all depends on the model and location in the window. If the device is located at the bottom of the window, you can control it using the buttons on the panel. Is the block assigned a place at the top of the frame? Then to configure its operation you need a remote control.

Attention! You cannot turn the air conditioner on/off by inserting/unplugging the plug from the socket.

On the remote control we find the power button, it is designated “On/Off”, after pressing which the device will start or stop working. But there are situations when the remote control is broken, lost, or the battery is dead and there is no spare. Then we find a control panel on our air conditioner, almost always hidden from view. It is located on the indoor unit under the curtains. There is always a button for such an emergency activation; it is often illuminated in green or red. Depending on the manufacturer, it may be designated as “on/off” or “operation”. You need to press on it and hold it in this state for a few seconds, after which the air conditioner will turn on with a characteristic sound and begin to cool the room. If you need to set the device to heating mode, press the power button again. To complete the work, we proceed in the same order - press and hold for a couple of seconds. This completes the functionality of the control panel; changes can only be made using the remote control.

We set the operating mode of the air conditioner (heating/cooling). Explanation of icons

You can set the air conditioner to the desired operating mode, of which there are quite a few, using the control panel. For example, for heating the algorithm is as follows:

  1. Find the button on the remote control labeled “HEAT” and press it.
  2. If there is no such inscription, then we find the “MODE” icon; using it, the modes indicated by a snowflake, sun, fan and droplet are switched. We scroll through until we find what we are looking for - the sun, because we need heating.
  3. You can set the desired temperature using the “+” and “–” buttons.
  4. The device will not start heating the air immediately, it should take about 5–10 minutes.

The cooling temperature can be adjusted in the same way.

Controlling the air conditioner using the remote control

In addition to the buttons described, there are many others on the remote control. For some, even after several years of operation, they remain a mystery, but we will decipher them now.

  • HEAT (or “sun” icon) – heating mode,
  • COOL (or snowflake icon) – cooling mode,
  • DRY (or “drop” icon) is an air dehumidification mode when the air conditioner removes excess moisture from the room.
  • FAN (or “fan” icon) is a ventilation mode that determines the blowing speed. An air conditioner distributes air throughout a room without heating or cooling it.
  • TURBO - enhanced fan operation mode,
  • SLEEP (or “star” icon) is a sleep mode during which the fan begins to rotate more slowly, which ensures the absence of noise. The device also regulates the temperature itself, making it comfortable for sleeping.
  • SWING - using this button you can change the direction of the curtains,
  • TIMER (or “clock” icon) – a timer that allows you to set the temperature parameters in advance and configure the unit to turn on/off independently.
  • CLOCK - time setting,
  • LOCK - lock the remote control,
  • LED - remote control backlight.

Operating conditions: at what temperatures does it work, how to prepare for winter

Almost all modern air conditioners are capable of not only cooling the air in the room, but also operating in heating mode, which is very convenient between seasons when the heating is turned off. However, there are certain conditions under which the device can operate.

So, the temperature outside should not be higher than +40°C and lower than -10°C. Experts insist that it is impossible to use air conditioners in winter at all, since the oil that is added to the refrigerant thickens. The consequence of this may be premature wear of parts, including the compressor.

But there are some device models that can operate even at a temperature of -25°C (outdoors). These are the Mitsubishi Electric and Daikin brands. How do you know if your air conditioner can work in winter? To do this, you need to carefully study the manual, and especially pay attention to the operating temperature range. The maximum numbers at which the device can be turned on will be indicated there.

The operating temperature of inverter air conditioners in the “cooling” mode is from -10 to +45, in the “heating” mode - from -15 to +24. Non-inverter units will operate for “cooling” - from +21 to +43, for “heating” - from -5 to +24. As for window models, the permissible temperature for “cooling” is from +18 to +45, “heating” is from -3 to +24 (outdoor temperature is indicated). It is recommended to turn on the “drying” mode at temperatures from +11 to + 43.

What other problems may arise when using the air conditioner in heating mode at temperatures below 0°C? This is glaciation of the outer block. This occurs due to the release of condensation, which begins to freeze directly on the device outside. If, at similar low temperatures, you turn on the device for cooling, then you can expect a decrease in the performance of the device, complete freezing of the external part and breakdown of the compressor.

Icing of the external block of the split system

Experts also advise that in hot weather, set the cooling mode within 21–23°C. This will help protect the compressor and your health due to the small temperature difference between indoors and outdoors.

Prevention and Maintenance

Air conditioner maintenance involves regular cleaning of the indoor and outdoor units, disinfection and refilling/refilling with refrigerant if necessary. Experts advise doing this at least once a year.

In addition, a preventive inspection is carried out in order to notice malfunctions in time, replace parts, lubricate the mechanism, check the equipment for leaks, and more. You can read more about this in the article “Do-it-yourself air conditioner maintenance.”

If the device is not planned to be used in winter, then it needs to be “mothballed” and prepared for cold weather:

  1. Turn on the air conditioner to the “Ventilation” mode and leave it running for at least 2 hours. This will remove all moisture from the radiator.
  2. We clean all filters.
  3. We close the external unit of the device tightly with waterproof material.

For window air conditioners, it will be enough to cover the part located on the street with film or other material designed to shelter things from external influences. But sometimes, even after the manipulations have been done, cold air still enters the room through the device, then the unit is removed for the winter.

Do you plan to operate a split system in winter? In this case, we purchase an additional “winter kit”. It consists of three important elements: a fan speed controller, drain tube heaters and a compressor. They prevent the blocks and the system from freezing, and also regulate the pressure in it. But it’s worth warning - under these conditions the device will only operate in cooling mode! This is true in stores and catering establishments.

Split system service life

Air conditioning in the house

How long a split system will last depends not on luck, but on certain factors. The average lifespan is 5–10 years, but this may vary due to:

  • Quality and reliability of the air conditioner. Of course, an ultra-high reliability device from the MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC brand (made in Japan) will last much longer than a device from the Delonghi brand (China).
  • Installation quality. In the summer season, when the issue of cooling is very pressing, many fly-by-night companies open, offering inexpensive installation of air conditioning. Very often it turns out that the installation was carried out poorly, and this leads to premature failure of the device itself.
  • Operating conditions. If your air conditioner is running at full capacity 24/7, this can shorten its lifespan.
  • High-quality and timely service. Regular cleaning of the device and replacement of the refrigerant will extend the life of the device.

If you follow the basics of operation, the air conditioner will definitely meet the owner’s expectations and will work flawlessly throughout its entire service life.

Air conditioners have become indispensable household appliances designed to maintain human comfort. But due to the many different buttons, sometimes, especially for beginners, it is difficult to select and find the appropriate air conditioner mode.

Using this device is not as difficult as it might seem at the very beginning. As a rule, the buttons and their designations are the same on all remote controls, and if you learn and remember them, you can easily use different models in the future.

The remote control is a candy bar with control buttons and a display that shows the selected mode. At the very end there is a special LED with infrared rays. Thanks to this diode, when directing the device to an air conditioning device, it is possible to remotely control household appliances. When you constantly press the button with your finger, the signal is sent to the air conditioner all the time, and the battery charge is wasted. But in the quiet state of the remote control, the battery is not active, which helps to economically consume electrical energy.

Remote control with a classic set of buttons

Symbols on the air conditioner remote control

Let's look at the main symbols on the control device:

  1. The dry function, located in the air conditioner, dehumidifies the air in the apartment. This button is very helpful during rainy periods, in the fall or spring before turning on the heating, when the humidity in the room is high.
  2. The TRV button means the operation of the thermostatic valve. In other words, using this function you can adjust the cooling operation.
  3. The fan icon means adjusting the fan speed or air flow intensity mode. By pressing this button again, you can change the operating speed to the required one.
  4. The heat function on any air conditioner literally translates as heating. You can turn on the heating of the room thanks to warm air flows. The heat heating mode is indicated by a schematic drawing of the sun on the air conditioner.
  5. The dehumidification mode is the same as the dry mode in the air conditioner, only it is called differently and has a designation in the form of a drop.
  6. The cool button performs the opposite function of heating. Thanks to this button, you can turn on the room cooling mode. This is especially good on hot summer days, when the heat makes staying in a city apartment unbearable. This button is indicated by a snowflake.
  7. The TURBO function means increased airflow. By turning it on, you can force the fan to supply increased air flow at high speed. Thus, the room is artificially ventilated without opening windows. And it will take much less time.

TURBO button

  1. The Swing function helps the air to be distributed evenly throughout the apartment. This happens thanks to the special movement of the dampers.
  2. Ifeel mode is designed to determine an individual comfortable temperature. Due to the fact that users often do not know what temperature in the room will be most comfortable for them, there is a thoughtless waste of electricity. And in this case, the I feel digger comes to the rescue. The technology is highly accurate: if for some reason the temperature in the apartment is below the required degree, the household appliance set to this mode begins to warm the air, automatically turning on the heat mode. And, conversely, when the temperature rises, the device immediately turns on air cooling. Thanks to this function, the room temperature will be maintained as comfortable as possible for your stay.
  3. Hi or H1 - the designation of these characters appears on the screen during failures as an error. When these combinations appear on the display, you should know that for some reason the device has entered the defrost mode. In order to eliminate the error, simply turn off the remote control, wait a while and turn it on again. After this, you can set the desired mode.
  4. Pre def is also an error code that is often found in the operation of air conditioners. It means that contact with the temperature sensor is temporarily lost. This happens due to various failures in the electronic system or problems with electricity. In order to restore the operation of the device, you just need to wait until contact with the temperature sensor is restored.
  5. On timer / Off timer – setting will help set the device to automatic mode. It can be configured to turn off or turn on the desired mode at a specific specified time. This function is very convenient at night or when the owners of the apartment are away.

On/off timer button

  1. Buttons for turning on and off a household appliance are necessary in order to turn the equipment on or off if necessary.
  2. The cancel or CANCEL button helps the user to cancel a mode set by mistake.
  3. Using the CLOCK button, you can set the time, which is very convenient for automatic mode, on/off timer, and simply using this device as a clock.
  4. The LOCK function helps you lock all buttons on the remote control. This function helps out when there are children or pets in the family, and they can accidentally press and thereby reset all settings.
  5. If the remote control has a backlight function, the LED button may be useful. It is needed for automatic backlighting of the remote control. Helps well in the dark.

What to do if the air conditioner does not follow the remote control commands

If the device does not respond to the remote control, you should:

  • make sure that the power supply system is working;
  • check the integrity of the case, screen, buttons;
  • make sure that the remote control emits infrared rays by taking a photograph, otherwise you will need to purchase a new remote control;
  • check the electrical network in the room to eliminate the cause of power fluctuations;
  • check the batteries for functionality.

To ensure that the remote control is not lost and is not subject to mechanical stress, shock, or pressure, you must purchase a special mount for it. It must be installed in a place that is accessible for use, handy and convenient.

The air conditioner remote control is an important component of this household electrical appliance. Without it, the air conditioner can only be started in automatic mode. But if for some reason the remote control is lost or broken and cannot be restored, you can purchase a universal one, suitable for all models and manufacturers.

Universal air conditioner remote control

An inverter air conditioner is a device whose operation is independently controlled by a compressor. When the maximum temperature is reached, such an air conditioner does not turn off, but reduces the degrees to maintain a constant comfortable temperature.

If you take a little time and understand the symbols of the buttons on the air conditioner remote control, you will find that using this device is not so difficult. Moreover, only a few main buttons stand out, the rest are used quite rarely.

A modern air conditioner can do more than just cool the air in a room. It also has a lot of functions that make it a multifunctional device, and not a simple household appliance that can only supply cool air. In particular, we are now talking about the Heat and Dry functions.

Heat function in air conditioner

It is appropriate when the room is cold. By turning on Heat, the user activates the heating mode, and if the room temperature drops below the user-set temperature, the air conditioner starts heating the air. But there is one important point here: the technical characteristics of the air conditioner always indicate the minimum value of the air temperature outside, at which it is permissible to turn on the air conditioner at all. Most models can work as long as it is -5 C outside the window, and if the device is activated at a temperature of -10 C, for example, then there is a high probability of it breaking.

Some expensive air conditioners (for example, Mitsubishi) can operate at lower temperatures, so if the main goal is to heat the room in winter, then you need to look at models that can operate at -20 C.

Also, air conditioners (including inexpensive ones) can be equipped with a special winter kit, thanks to which the device can also operate for heating in winter.

Dry function

Everything is much simpler here. Dry involves dehumidifying the air in the room. If you feel a lot of moisture in the room, then just activate this mode. The air conditioner will begin to draw in humid air, extract moisture from it and turn it into condensation on the heat exchanger. Excess moisture is then removed through the water drainage tube.

This is the simple operation of these functions; we will also look at the rest in detail, but a little later.
