Where is Honda SRV assembled: configurations, characteristics and cost. Where is Honda CRV assembled? Production of old Honda CRV models.

The car is a legend. This can be called the Honda Civic, which was released back in 1972. It was updated eight times, and each modification received dozens of world awards, captivating thousands of fans. By the way, on Russian roads you can still find the first examples, which are already more than 40 years old, and they are still in excellent shape. By this you can judge the quality of the machines and their durability.

In this material, we would like to look at where the Honda Civic is assembled, and how the Honda Civic stands out from its competitors.

Where is Honda Civic assembled for our market?

Honda Civic fifth and sixth modifications were supplied to Russia only from Japan. But in reality, production facilities are scattered all over the world. For example, five-door hatchbacks are made in England. But they did not officially reach us. Nothing has changed since then. The assembly remained Japanese.

Until 1996, cars entered the Russian market with a carburetor engine. It had neither a lambda probe nor a converter. There is still no special package for us, and the cars come out “one size fits all” for any market. But, if a car is manufactured for a hot climate, then greater tightness and better filters are used.

The disadvantage of this type of assembly is that some parts are simply impossible to find here.

Honda Civic configurations in our market

The Honda Civic of our assembly has several trim levels. For the basic 4D version you will have to pay from 779 thousand. This model has a redesigned aggressive grille framed by a chrome insert. Also worth noting are the slanted headlights, new bumpers and interesting fog lights. Also, there is an innovative trunk lid and a streamlined rear bumper. This has a great effect on aerodynamic performance.

The interior is worth noting excellent finishing materials and a large central panel. Under the hood of the car is a 1.8-liter engine with an output power of 141 horsepower. The transmission can be either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic.

The remaining trim levels are called Elegance, Lifestyle and Executive. The first of them is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, excellent air conditioning, a large five-inch display and heated mirrors. There is also a four-speaker radio, heated seats and eight airbags. This version costs from 779 thousand rubles.

The Lifestyle package received, in addition to the previous functions, climate control, light sensor, speakerphone, fog lights and alloy wheels with a diameter of 16 inches. This version costs from 839 thousand rubles.

The Executive received leather trim, eight-way adjustable driver's seat and two high-frequency speakers. The cost of this configuration is from 939 thousand rubles.

Characteristics of the Honda Civic, which is released on our market

Honda cars are famous for their reliability. The Civic has a multi-link suspension, hydraulic valve control and excellent gearboxes. The engines here are so durable that it’s time to create legends about them. Therefore, for any runs, there is no need to hide them. It is simply impossible to overheat a serviceable engine.

The fact is that Japanese engineers took into account the criticism of the eighth generation, and even changed the little things. Now the bumper consists of two parts. The first of them is painted in the same color as the body, and the second goes under the radiator grille. All this makes the car sporty and fast. The swift side wings have become a little more muscular. Also, power lines appeared here.

At the rear there is now no twin optical system, but simple LED headlights. They are built into the spoiler along with the brake light.
The differences with the previous generation in size are quite minimal, but they still exist. The length of the nine has increased by 35 millimeters, the width has grown by 10 millimeters, but the height has decreased by 20 millimeters.

The Honda Civic, which is sold in Russia, is equipped mainly with a manual transmission. According to statistics, about 95% of the fifth modification, and 80% of the sixth, drive on our roads with it, and so on, up to the ninth.
Automatic transmissions are also quite good. They are quite durable and reliable. They are inexpensive to repair, but finding replacement parts is almost impossible, since they are not assembled here.

A transmission with a variator outperforms both manual and automatic transmissions at speed. They also save fuel. The reliability of this gearbox is not in question. But it is not suitable for our off-road conditions. After all, in city traffic jams the variator will quickly break down.

The external anthers begin to fray only after five years of use. The bearings work like clockwork. Problems arise only after 120 thousand kilometers. The suspension practically does not require replacement.
There are no complaints about the steering either. The rack leaks only with significant mileage, and the tips can last more than 150 thousand kilometers. Also keep in mind that only expensive fluid should be poured into the hydraulic booster.

The brake pads are very reliable and tenacious. If the anthers are in order, then the guides will work perfectly.

The body is galvanized. Only the roof and rear pillars are left unattended. Therefore, if you have done body repairs, then after seven years of operation the car will begin to rust. The rear arches must be washed periodically. Dust and dirt can accumulate on them.

An undoubted advantage of the Japanese assembly is the absence of protruding parts at the bottom of the body. The muffler is hidden, and the pipelines are in casings. Thresholds are produced with special protection against stones. Plastic covers also protect the car from high curbs. But the front mudguards from Japanese engineers are very short-lived.

If you look into the salon, you won't see anything remarkable. Here the classics are combined with some elegance and a touch of sport. Electrical connections here are safe and durable. They are created with a triple seal along each wiring. After several years of use, the front window lifts begin to jam. The cause is dirt and dust.

Although the Honda Civic is considered a foreign car, Japanese engineers made it so that mechanics could easily fix it. Therefore, if any problems arise, you can fix everything yourself. But, it is best to turn to professionals. They will do everything quickly and won’t take much.

If you are interested in the new Japanese crossover and want to know what it is, whether the Corda will go on sale and how much it will cost, this article is for you.

Start of sales

Oddly enough, Russia is the first country in Europe in which sales of the fifth generation CR-V will begin. The appearance of the crossover on the market is planned for the summer, since the first batches will begin to be produced in April, and several more months will be spent on delivering cars from the USA. Note that at the start of sales only the CR-V with a 2.4-liter engine will be available; younger car models will appear approximately in September.

Many did not like the previous generation CR-V due to its low ground clearance. Engineers listened to the community and increased the ground clearance to 20 centimeters. Among the disadvantages is the engine compartment boot made of thin plastic, the advantage is a perfectly flat bottom, there is simply nothing to cling to about unevenness when driving in a ditch.

How is it without “turbo”?

The 2017 CR-V will come with exactly the same set of engines as the previous generation. Atmospheric 4s with distributed injection (2.0 l, 150 horsepower, 190 Nm) and direct injection (2.4 l, 188 hp, 245 Nm) will hit the market. According to the manufacturer, both engines will consume 92 gasoline without any problems.

But the petrol engine is 1.5 liter turbocharged. 190 horsepower, which was developed specifically for the new crossover, will not make it to Russia at the start of sales. Honda engineers decided that it was too delicate for domestic realities and would initially require running-in and testing, after which a decision would be made on the advisability of delivering such CR-Vs. The situation is similar with active radiator shutters, which will also not be included in the configuration at first.

The Russian version of the CR-V 2017 will differ from the American version with modified foglights, reflectors and a radiator grille. Also, due to low demand, our crossovers will lack adaptive air conditioning, lane keeping and automatic braking.

What about the drive and transmission?

In the new generation CR-V, Honda decided to abandon front-wheel drive, manual transmission and standard automatic. The crossover will be produced in one version - all-wheel drive with a CVT automatic transmission, which migrated to the CR-V 2017 from the maximum 2.4 liter version of last year. We have not heard any negative reviews about the variator from real owners; it has proven itself well.

Will it become more expensive?

Yes, and significantly. The advertisement said a price of one and a half million, but this is extremely implausible. Prices for the 2017 CR-V will most likely start at 1.8 million, which is comparable to the current cost of the 2016 CR-V 2.4 liter, and since the new product has better equipment and larger dimensions, it obviously won’t cost any less.

However, Honda representatives promise to make every effort to maintain the starting price throughout the year, while according to their estimates, all competitors of the CR-V - Rav4, X-Trail, Sportage - will rise significantly in price in 2017.

What about the configuration?

In this regard, Honda is pleased. Even the most affordable CR-V in the Elegance configuration cannot be called empty, since it has 8 airbags, tire pressure detection and stabilization functions, an electromechanical hand brake, parking sensors and air conditioning.

By increasing the wheelbase by 4 cm, the passenger seats in the CR-V have become more spacious. Passengers will definitely like the new crossover - a flat floor, the ability to adjust the seat, and folding armrests.

The intermediate package - LifeStyle, will additionally include dual-zone climate control, an increased number of speakers (6 versus 4), a multimedia panel with a large screen (7 inches), blind spot cameras, tinted windows, keyless entry and a rain sensor. Also, it is in this configuration that the first LED headlights in the history of the CR-V will appear.

The luxury package - Executive - will boast leather trim, heated steering wheels and seats, improved acoustics and the presence of a servo drive for passenger seats.

In the maximum configuration - Prestige, you will receive a subwoofer, a proprietary navigation system from Garmin, a head-up display and a sunroof.

The CR-V 2016 has an extremely spacious luggage compartment with good sound insulation and the ability to fold the backrest of the rear seat (this happens automatically). The only complaint I can make is the lack of a contactless opening system.

Who produces?

Representatives of Honda stated that they do not plan to organize production of the CR-V 2017 in Russia - this is simply not profitable, since the projected sales volume does not exceed 400-500 cars per year. The production of crossovers will be carried out in the United States, and all components will be made there - engines, gearboxes, etc.

It is in the USA that the CR-V enjoys the greatest success; it is the leader in sales among crossovers in the country - 346 thousand fourth-generation CR-Vs were sold in 2016. That is why the presentation of the new product took place in Los Angeles.

First look at the 2017 Honda CR-V (video)

How does it behave on the road?

The test model of the crossover with a 2.4 liter engine performed excellently during the run-in. First of all, let's highlight the excellent layout of the control elements - everything you need is at hand, extremely comfortable seats, ideal for long trips, and the presence of automatic glass mode.

The new multimedia is made on the Android platform. It has both advantages and disadvantages. Among the minuses is a meager interface with primitive graphics and the use of touch buttons instead of mechanical ones, pluses are support for Apple Car, Android Auto and MirorLink functions. The manufacturer also promises that production car models will be friendly with Yandex Traffic.

The new CR-V drives easily and briskly, both at the start and in dynamics. Thanks to the linear throttle lever, it is very comfortable to drive at a minimum speed, which is necessary when maneuvering in traffic jams, and the ability to fine-tune the steering sensitivity will be useful for fragile women.

The transmission can operate in Sport mode, and there is also an Eco mode for maximum fuel economy. There are no complaints about the suspension or sound insulation (the chassis and engine are practically inaudible when driving).

We will draw more extensive conclusions after testing production models, since it is not entirely correct to make a verdict in isolation from the price of the car. However, the 2017 CR-V, apparently, turned out to be a good continuation of the popular series of crossovers from the Japanese.

Honda is a manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles that has won worldwide recognition. The company was founded in Japan and has been able to achieve incredible success throughout its history.

The range of motor vehicles produced by Honda includes a variety of motorcycles and ATVs. The corporation produces street models of motorcycles, sports and heavy motorcycles. Engine capacity varies from 50 to 1900 sq.cm. The main consumer is Asian countries, and average annual revenue grows by 12-15% every year.

The range of motor vehicles includes the following product classes:

  • classic lightweight control models;
  • cross-motorcycles;
  • cruiser models of motorcycles;
  • small-capacity motorcycles;
  • “super sport” class models;
  • tourist motorcycles;
  • universal type motorcycles.

The corporation constantly modernizes its production, equips it with the latest technicians and improves the qualifications of specialists. This approach to work provided the company with resounding success among consumers and brought its products far beyond the borders of the state.

History of Honda

Honda was founded in 1948 in Japan. The first founder was Soitro Honda, after whom the corporation was named. In 1948, Honda employed no more than 20 people.

By 1950, the company began developing motorcycles that were powered by four-stroke engines. These models brought the first wave of popularity to the company.

Until the early 60s, motorcycles produced by the company actively participated in races, where they only won first positions. Also during this period, the company's overall sales turnover and profits increased significantly, amounting to more than $60 million.

The advantage of Honda motorcycles was that they were much lower in price than other manufacturers, but had a high overall power rating. Such a marketing ploy allowed the company to quickly take a large share of the motorcycle market.

After such success, the company began to invest even more in product and technology research, creating engines with even greater volumes. Current Honda motorcycles are the best models of their kind, which have no analogues throughout the world.

Honda has released a new CR-V model, which is ready to compete with other cars in this promising segment of the Russian car market. The new variation differs from the previous one not only with a larger engine, but also with a number of other changes in the equipment of the car, as well as the concept as a whole. This is due to the fact that the production of cars with a 2-liter engine takes place in England, and they are in demand mainly in the European market, while the assembly of 2.4-liter engines is in America and is aimed at the market in the States.

Same or different?

What is the fundamental difference between these two versions? Even externally, the American version is distinguished by the design of the front bumper: its lower section has a clear geometry typical of SUVs to improve cross-country ability. The previous model was designed almost the same, but customers complained about the weak sporty character of the car, so pseudo-sports body kits from Mugen were extremely popular. It is not surprising that the appearance of the European version of the car has become more rapid due to the lowered line of the bumper located at the front. It is important that this did not particularly affect the geometry of the crossover, and the car still confidently overcomes the declared 23 degrees. But the approach angle of the “American” with an engine capacity of 2.4 liters has been increased to 28°; in combination with powerful 18-inch wheels, the car may well turn out to be an excellent companion in off-road conditions.

Testing the “American” on Russian off-road

Indeed, the American version of the car shows excellent handling performance on difficult road terrain, so typical for Russia. At a speed of 80 km/h it is quite possible to drive calmly, without going to extremes and going around deep potholes, which are hardly subject to the so-called SUV. For a crossover, the car exhibits a smooth ride and good energy efficiency. However, the off-road qualities of the car are not limitless, and, having felt sand under the wheels, the car begins to behave less calmly and may well stand up, since this model has no slipping.

In order to evaluate how the new clutch, equipped with an electric pump and electronic control, would work in natural conditions, test drive participants chose a small embankment with a slope of about 20 degrees. In this case, the lion's share of the load goes to the rear axle drive starting mechanism. Here a function has become relevant that allows you to limit the shifting of an automatic transmission. In the European version, this option is available only in “sport” mode using the steering wheel paddle shifters. The clutch was able to work for about half a minute, then the overheated element needed a rest. Unfortunately, despite its good geometry and excellent suspension, this crossover is still not capable of competing with SUVs. True, most buyers most likely will not buy a city car for driving on rough terrain.

Features of the European version of Honda CR-V

On the asphalt, the 2-liter version of the crossover could not confirm the declared sporty style, since the electric amplifier almost did not “communicate” with the wheels, the steering wheel turned out to be too empty and light, and the zero indicator was stretched by almost a quarter of a turn. This modification was not distinguished by its good dynamics, but this was not due to the fault of the naturally aspirated engine; the 5-speed gear selector performed poorly here. Neither the “sport” mode nor manual gear shifting can correct the situation. The lag behind the manual is 2.4 seconds, which is usually not typical for modern automatic machines.

The 2.4-liter volume does not improve the situation much if the car takes off from a standstill, but it manifests itself more clearly when overtaking, and acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h occurs in about 8 seconds or a little more, and this time is enough to the driver felt confident on the track.

Pros and cons of CR-V versions

Interestingly, the crossover assembled in North America is equipped with a more sensitive steering wheel. In addition, the modified electric drive allows the “American” to coordinate the position of the wheels on the roadway much better compared to the European model. It’s a pity that reflashing the steering algorithm is currently impossible; it would not be superfluous for the 2-liter model.

The suspensions of both versions of the car did their job well. But in terms of noise insulation, the American variation confidently outperformed its European competitor.

The rear row of seats is good in both car variations, since when creating the car it was decided to remove the inconvenient tunnel and improve the ergonomics of the cabin. In addition, the doors began to open wider, making it easier for even fairly large passengers to enter the cabin, and the headrests became more comfortable.

The folding mechanism for the second-row seats, designed to increase luggage space, is not very convenient, since the car is not equipped with an electric drive, and the ability to fold the rear seats from the luggage compartment is not provided.

The interior of these two models is similar, but the materials used for decoration differ. The European version uses the usual soft plastic for the dashboard and velor seats, but the American variation does not give the impression of flexible finishing, however, the seats are covered with high-quality leatherette, which is not available in the 2-liter version. The European model also lacks an excellent navigation system, equipped with detailed Navteq maps and good route guidance.

No winner announced

So, the CR-V, created in England, is more suitable for ladies in terms of its characteristics, such as reliability, efficiency, leisurely and easy to drive. But the American version of the car will appeal more to the stronger sex, as it has a slightly higher ground clearance, a more powerful engine, a front bumper typical of SUVs, a laconic interior design, and an excellent navigation system that will be indispensable when traveling.

As for the cost, the price of the Honda CR-V ranges from 1,149,000 to 1,529,000, i.e. The car belongs to the middle segment of the market. Compared to those presented, there are cars that are cheaper, simpler, and more suitable for off-road driving; there are also those that cost more, but have better dynamics and handling. Honda has set itself the task of raising the share of the CR-V model in the lineup to 60%. When choosing from a huge assortment of different cars, it is worth remembering such advantages as a comfortable and spacious interior, reliable assembly, good equipment, as well as excellent sound insulation of the car.

Assembly of Honda SRV 2018 is carried out at only two enterprises, which makes it easier to answer the question of where this popular compact is produced. The new version of the car is supplied to the Russian market with two engine options, 150 and 188 hp, and three standard sets of options. However, many buyers are interested not only in the configuration of the car, but also where it is assembled for Russia - it is believed that quality, handling and even the level of comfort in the cabin depend on this.

Where is Honda SRV assembled?

The answer to the question of where Honda SRV is assembled for Russia now depends on the year of its manufacture. The latest versions roll off the production line at a facility in East Liberty, Ohio. Several years ago, these crossovers, based on the model, were supplied to domestic car dealerships from a plant in Swindon, UK. The British enterprise still continues to carry out assembly for Ukraine and the European market.

Several years ago, one could find information on the Internet about the possibility of releasing the CRV model in Russia and Canada. However, Honda representatives report that the company has no such plans yet. On the one hand, this means that the cost of the crossover will not decrease, on the other, its quality will also remain at a fairly high level. At the same time, the assembly of the year will be the last release for the UK plant - the next generations will be assembled in the USA and Japan.

Release of older Honda CRV models

The first generations, produced in the late 1990s and early 2000s, rolled off assembly lines in Japan, the UK, the Philippines, Taiwan and even Thailand. Already in 1996, the first versions intended for the American market appeared. Due to the popularity of the model, assembly began in the USA and even Mexico.

On the secondary market you can buy a 2017 Honda SRV, which was supplied to Russia from the UK. In Latin America, you can still find crossovers from Mexico, where they were produced specifically for this region. And, if we consider a first-generation CRV for purchase, even a Russian buyer may well encounter a Japanese, British and even Chinese or Mexican assembly.

Build quality

Regardless of the plant where the Honda SRV was assembled, the model is distinguished by high quality finishing and a good set of safety systems - including 6 airbags even in the basic version. However, British assembly is considered to be of lower quality compared to American models. Among the disadvantages of this release, motorists noted that the bumper was too low, the engine’s low performance and the fabric upholstery of the seats. The assembly from Swindon was distinguished by its low ground clearance - only 16.5 cm.

American versions received higher ground clearance and a completely different set of engines. The leather-trimmed interior, the presence of a rear view camera, and even the lower price attract attention. Although the same “Americans” also have several disadvantages - for example, there are no headlight washers and paddle shifters for shifting gears in the basic versions.
