Features of the design of headlights and lamps of the DAEWOO NEXIA car headlights. Features of the design of headlights and lamps of the car DAEWOO NEXIA headlights Where in Daewoo Nexia are headlight adjustments

Adjustment of the direction of the headlight beams and fog lights should be carried out at a service station using special devices.

To roughly adjust the headlights, you can use the method below.

Headlight adjustment diagram

We adjust the direction of the headlight beams on a fully fueled and equipped car, with normal air pressure in the tires. We place a load weighing 75 kg on the driver's seat. We install the car on a flat horizontal area at a distance of 10 m from the screen (you can use a garage wall, a sheet of plywood or hardboard). We draw a horizontal line on the screen at a height equal to the distance from the center of the headlights to the floor. Below it, 100-150 mm, draw a parallel line. We draw a vertical center line on the screen (the distance from it to the center of the left and right headlights should be equal) and lines corresponding to the centers of the headlights (AE and BE). We set the headlight adjustment control to position “0” (one driver or a driver with a passenger in the front seat) and turn on the low beam headlights. Cover the right headlight with an opaque material or disconnect the wire block from it.

Each headlight has two controls to change the direction of the light beam. When adjusting...

... insert the Phillips screwdriver into engagement with the regulator sprocket.

To change the direction of the headlight beam in the horizontal plane...

… use a screwdriver to turn the regulator located closer to the body fender.

To change the direction of the light beam in the vertical plane...

...rotate the regulator located closer to the axis of the car.

When adjusting, the upper limit of the luminous flux should coincide with the lower horizontal line, and the intersection point of the horizontal and inclined sections of the luminous flux should coincide with the line corresponding to the center of the headlight. Similarly, we adjust the direction of the light beam of the right headlight. Approximate adjustment of the direction of the light beam of the fog lights is carried out under the same conditions as the main headlights.

Screen markings for adjusting fog lights: h - height of the center of the fog lights on the car

We draw an additional horizontal line on the screen at a height equal to the distance from the center of the fog lights to the floor. Below it, 100 mm, draw a parallel line. The fog lights are adjustable only in the vertical plane.

From the bottom of the car, rotate the adjusting screw (shown by the arrow), achieving the location of the light spots, as shown in the figure.

Many owners of Korean automotive products notice that the headlights on the Daewoo Nexia do not shine well. There are not many reasons for this shortcoming. Experts assure that it is possible to cope with this problem on your own, but this will require finding out the true factors of the deficiency, and then eliminating the identified malfunction.

Novice drivers who do not have at least minimal experience and knowledge of the internal structure of individual components and assemblies are recommended to contact professionals at the nearest service center.

Headlight adjustment

Are the headlights on your Daewoo Nexia bad? This means that immediate elimination of this deficiency is required, since good visibility on the night road is one of the keys to traffic safety. One of the reasons affecting the operation of automotive lighting elements is their correct adjustment.

On the Daewoo Nexia, this procedure is performed as follows:

  • The machine is placed opposite the wall at a distance of 5 meters;
  • A load weighing 5 kg is placed in the luggage compartment, and the driver’s seat is made heavier by 75 kg;
  • Then special markings are made on the wall or a screen is mounted to adjust the headlights;
  • The axial longitudinal line of the car must be located according to the zero mark of the screen;
  • The H value on the screen is equal to the height from the middle of the headlights to the floor;
  • The corrector control on the instrument panel is set to mode “0”, which will be close to testing a car with one driver;
  • The low beam turns on;
  • The headlights are adjusted individually; the unused headlight should be covered with thick canvas or other light-proof material.
On Nexia, released until 2008, adjustments are made using adjusting screws using a screwdriver until the optimal value is achieved. On models manufactured after this period, adjustment is made with a key set to “10” by rotating the screws located on the back side of the light element.

Other causes and solutions

One of the factors that the headlights on the model in question do not light well is weak wiring. To solve this problem, it is reasonable to power the lighting system through a separate relay.

The sequence of work in a specific example consists of the following operations:

  • Check the voltage at the battery terminals after stopping the engine (12.6 V);
  • A similar indicator is read at the headlight connector (10.4 V);
  • There is an obvious difference of 2 volts (if you change it back to halogen headlights, the lighting will improve significantly).

To install separate wiring, you will need two copies of a 4-pin relay (30 A), 2 blocks, about 5 meters of wire with a diameter of 2.5 sq. mm. The power contact of the relay should be secured to the safety element using the soldering method. The remaining ends are soldered to the positive of the battery. The relay wires are connected to each other, the remaining parts are extended and attached to the low and high beam lighting system.

A bundle of 600 mm for the left headlight and 1800 mm for the right element is attached to the contacts of both relays by soldering. All connections are carefully insulated. Power comes directly from the battery. The ground is connected to any bolt, and the wiring is connected specifically to the lamp connectors. Installation is carried out using plastic ties to securely secure the wiring. For convenience of work, it is recommended to disconnect and remove the battery before starting work.

Also, car headlights may not shine well. during contact oxidation. In this case, cleaning the last elements with fine sandpaper and treating with a special compound will help. If the reason for the weak light of the lanterns lies in an incorrectly selected lamp, an alternative option should be installed according to the characteristics specified in the operating instructions.

Daewoo Nexia headlight design

Early Nexias have block-type headlights, consisting of a lamp with two filaments for short-range and long-range. There is also a light indicator and turning lights. Generations of cars produced after 2008 are equipped with updated headlights with an improved design. In them, lamps of different range modes are installed separately.

The need to adjust the headlights of the car model in question arises mainly after repairs or any work has been carried out on them. As practice shows, even minor interference with the operation of lighting devices can disrupt their settings. Adjustment will also be required if the headlights on the Daewoo Nexia do not shine well when purchasing a used car. Having studied the main reasons for the poor performance of lighting fixtures and repair technology, it is quite possible to correct this problem yourself.

Notes:

For ease of use, the handles, buttons and control devices located on the instrument panel and other additional control panels are marked with symbols of their functional purpose.

Steering column switches Daewoo Nexia N150 mounted on the steering column. The left steering column switch combines switches for the direction indicators, exterior lighting, low and high beam headlights.

Central light switch

To turn on or off the external lighting devices, turn the handle at the end of the lever of the left steering column switch.

The handle has three positions:

1. Exterior lighting of Daewoo Nexia N150 is turned off;

2. Side lights, license plate lights and instrument panel lights are included;

3. The side lights, license plate lights, instrument panel lights, and low beam headlights of the Daewoo Nexia N150 are turned on.

Note:

If the ignition key is in the "IN"- “the steering shaft is blocked” or "I"— “ignition off”, when the driver’s door is opened, a warning sound is heard, reminding you to turn off the lights.

Headlight switch

For turning on the high beam headlights turn the handle of the central lighting switch counterclockwise (turn on the low beam) and press the left switch lever away from you. When the high beam headlights are turned on, the corresponding lamp on the instrument panel lights up blue.

To briefly turn on the high beam headlights, regardless of the position of the central lighting switch, move the lever of the left steering column switch towards you.
When released, the lever will return to its original position.

Turn signal switch

The turn indicators of the Daewoo Nexia N150 are turned on when the left steering column switch lever is moved up or down until it stops. In the upper position of the switch lever the right turn signal is on, in the lower position the left one is on.

When the steering wheel is returned to the neutral position, the left steering column switch lever is automatically returned to its original position and the turn signal is turned off.

Switch block

Front fog light switch

The front fog lamp switch is located on the instrument panel above the headlight beam direction control.

To turn on the front fog lights, press the button with the exterior lights on. At the same time, the indicator in the switch lights up. By pressing the button again, we turn off the front fog lights of the Daewoo Nexia N150.

Rear fog light switch

To turn on the rear fog lights when the front fog lights are on, press the button located on the right side of the instrument panel. At the same time, the indicator in the switch lights up. Press the button again to turn off the rear fog lights.

Note:

The fog lights turn on only when the ignition is on and the headlights are on low beam or when the fog lights are on.

Using rear fog lights at night in clear weather can lead to blinding of drivers of cars moving behind and, as a result, to a traffic accident. Therefore, turn on the rear fog lights only when there is heavy fog.

Hazard light switch

When you press the switch button, all direction indicators and their indicator lamps installed in the instrument cluster light up with a flashing light. Pressing the button again turns off the alarm.

Note:

The hazard warning lights operate in any position of the key in the ignition switch (lock).

Heated rear window switch

When you press the switch button (the ignition key is in position II), the electric heating of the rear window is turned on, and at the same time the indicator lamp in the button lights up. When you press the button again, the heating turns off.

Warning:

The heating element draws a lot of current, so to avoid excessive battery drain, turn on the heater while the engine is running and only for as long as necessary to defog the rear window. To avoid damaging the heater filaments, do not use scrapers or other sharp objects, or detergents with abrasive ingredients, to clean the inside of the rear window.

Electric headlight corrector for Daewoo Nexia N150

The electric headlight corrector is designed to remotely change the tilt of the headlight beams in the vertical plane at different vehicle loads. We adjust the direction of the light beams of the headlights by rotating the regulator located on the left of the instrument panel.

Location of the headlight range control

To properly illuminate the road and prevent dazzling drivers of other vehicles, you should combine the mark on the control wheel of the electric corrector with the corresponding marks (numbers) on the block with different loading options:

  • 0 — one driver or a driver and a passenger in the front seat;
  • 1 - driver and four passengers;
  • 2 — one driver and cargo in the luggage compartment;
  • 3 - driver, four passengers and cargo in the luggage compartment.

Warning:

Always install the electric headlight leveler in the appropriate position, as blinding the driver of an oncoming car can have the most serious consequences!

On DAEWOO NEXIA cars produced before 2008 (mod. No. 100), headlight units are used that combine a two-filament low and high beam lamp of type H4, a side light lamp and a turn indicator lamp installed in its own housing.
DAEWOO NEXIA cars manufactured since 2008 (mod. No. 150) are equipped with headlights of a modified shape and design. These headlights use separate low beam (H7) and high beam (H1) lamps, a side light lamp, similar to the lamp of the previous headlight, and a turn signal lamp, also similar to the previous one, but installed in a common headlight housing (the turn signal does not have a separate removable body).
The low and high beam headlights of the DAEWOO NEXIA are turned on by the left steering column switch - the exterior lighting switch - using a relay located in the mounting block in the engine compartment. The control voltage is supplied to the windings of the high beam headlight relay from the exterior lighting switch if it is in the headlight on position. Regardless of the position of the exterior lighting switch, you can briefly turn on the high beam headlights by moving the switch lever towards you.

Fog lights
Some DAEWOO NEXIA vehicles are equipped with fog lights with H3 (mod. No. 100) or H11 (mod. No. 150) lamps installed in the lower part of the front bumper. The fog lights can be turned on using the switch on the instrument panel only when the exterior lighting is on.

Tail lights
The rear lights of the DAEWOO NEXIA car are equipped with brake and side lights, turn indicators, reversing lights, and a fog light.
The rear lights of the DAEWOO NEXIA car produced since 2008 differ from previous lights not only in the shape, design of the base and the location of the lenses, but also in the installation of a baseless W16W reversing light lamp instead of a P21W lamp.

Rear fog light
Rear fog lamps type P21W are installed in the rear lights. The fog lights of the DAEWOO NEXIA can only be turned on using the switch on the instrument panel if the headlights are turned on. When the side lights are turned off, the rear fog light turns off automatically.

Direction indicators
Turn signal lamps are installed in the headlights, rear and side lights. The direction indicators of the DAEWOO NEXIA car are turned on by the left steering column switch (lamp on one side depending on the position of the switch).
In hazard warning mode, the hazard warning switch turns on all direction indicators. The flashing of the lamps is ensured by the alarm relay interrupter.

Electric headlight corrector
DAEWOO NEXIA cars are equipped with an electric headlight corrector, which allows you to change the direction of the headlight beam in the vertical plane depending on the vehicle load.
USEFUL TIPS:
If the headlights suddenly start to shine dimly, and when the turn signal is turned on, the side lamp begins to flash, restore contact between the ground wire and the body.
Make it a habit to regularly change your bulbs (especially your headlights). Over time, the lamp bulb becomes cloudy and the brightness of the lamp decreases. Moreover, this process occurs rather slowly and the driver does not notice the gradual deterioration in road illumination.
Recently, more and more cars are appearing whose headlights shine like a Christmas tree in various shades of blue. All this is called “xenon” and is considered very cool. There is no doubt, xenon headlights, installed as standard on the latest models of foreign cars, illuminate the road much better, and the car looks much more impressive with them. It is not surprising that many are also trying to improve their car, especially since now a lot of “xenon” lamps of various manufacturers (most often Chinese) have appeared on the shelves. Don't buy it cheap - these lamps have nothing in common with real xenon discharge lamps without filaments. These are ordinary lamps with painted glass. The light transmission capacity of such glass is significantly lower than that of standard lamps; the filaments of fakes, as a rule, are installed out of focus and a headlight with such a lamp, while outwardly effective, illuminates practically nothing, and additionally mercilessly blinds oncoming drivers. In addition, manufacturers of such lamps, in order to compensate for the decrease in luminous flux, increase their power beyond the norm. Often their installation leads to melting of the wire insulation and damage to electrical equipment. And a fire is also possible. It’s better not to buy a “headache” with your money, but buy regular lamps of good quality.
Sooner or later, the bulbs in the taillights burn out. It would seem that it would be simpler - take a new light bulb, suitable for the size of the base and voltage, and install it in place of the burnt out one. However, please note that the rear lights use lamps with the same base, but of different power - 5W and 21W. And this is not an insignificant detail: 5-watt lamps are installed in side lights, and 21-watt lamps are installed in turn indicators and brake lights. Don't confuse them. If you install low-wattage bulbs in your brake lights and turn signals, other drivers simply won't see your signals in inclement weather. And powerful lamps in “dimensions” will greatly disturb drivers driving behind and irritate them. Their attitude towards you will be corresponding.

Adjusting the headlights of a DAEWOO NEXIA car
Check and adjust the headlights of a DAEWOO NEXIA vehicle when the vehicle is equipped (with a fully filled fuel tank, a set of tools and a spare wheel).
To adjust the headlights of your DAEWOO NEXIA, you will need a Phillips screwdriver (or a 10mm wrench).
1. Pre-check and, if necessary, adjust the tire pressure to normal.
2. Place the car perpendicular to a smooth wall (for example, a garage) at a distance of 5 m. Place an additional weight weighing 75 kg on the driver’s seat. Mark the screen on the wall as shown in Fig.

The longitudinal plane of symmetry of the car should pass along line 0 on the screen. Rock the car sideways so that the suspension springs self-align.
3. Measure the height of the headlight centers to the floor on your vehicle. This will be the distance h on the screen.
4. Set the headlight adjustment control on the instrument panel to position “0”, corresponding to the load of a car with one driver.
5. Turn on low beam.
6. It is recommended to adjust the direction of the light spot for each headlight separately. Cover the second headlight with opaque material during adjustment.

7. Open the hood and, on a car built before 2008, use a screwdriver to rotate the gears of the adjusting screws and adjust the position of the light spot for each headlight on the screen horizontally.

8. Adjust the position of the light spot for each headlight on the screen vertically.

9. On a car manufactured since 2008, use a “10” key to rotate the adjusting screws A (vertical adjustment) and B (horizontal adjustment) installed on the back side of the headlight.

NOTE:
Left headlights shown, right headlight adjustment screws located symmetrically.
10. The headlights are considered adjusted when the upper boundaries of the left parts of the light spots coincide with line 4, and the vertical lines 1 and 2 pass through the intersection points E1 and E2 of the horizontal and inclined sections of the light spots.
